Names in other languages[edit]
Per this proposal, a citation must be provided for every new names in other languages, or they will be reverted. This is to ensure that the name is indeed attested from an official material, as it is difficult to distinguish a made-up name otherwise. Hope this information helps. - It's cases like this one that made me oppose that proposal and I maintain my view. Anon's source is literally the game. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 04:58, November 28, 2025 (EST)
- I have mixed feelings with that proposal, as while I dislike the in-game English citation double-standard, I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice a couple mistakes when applying citations, which would have slipped through the cracks through "just trust us it's in the game" mentality. It does inflate the references section, but that can be remedied if someone were to make a drop-down. LinkTheLefty (talk) 06:20, November 28, 2025 (EST)
- in that case, it's not particularly hard to cite the quote that mentions it, or the menu where the name is found. better to be transparent. —
eviemaybe (talk / contributions) 09:29, November 28, 2025 (EST) - The burden of proof still lies on the person adding the name. If the source is the game, then it's not difficult to give a proof or statement about it as citation. Dominoes (talk) 09:55, November 28, 2025 (EST)
