Paper Mario edit[edit]

Please stop edit warring over the Paper Mario fact, if you see it's not there for a reason don't add it again okay. I'm telling you in the most polite way to please stop. Two PM games start with a book, edit warring is a Level two offense, if you continue doing this I think I will have to get an Sysop involved thanks. Sprite of Black Ninjakoopa, from Paper Mario. It is there for a reason. It's there because it helps make the entire point of the article more clear for people who might be confused by it because of playing Paper Jam and making an assumption about the series that isn't applicable to the older games. This isn't edit warring. This is changing it back to how it actually is, your reason isn't an applicable reason because you're making it sound like the Paper Mario games exist within an alternate timeline or pocket dimension of sorts because of Paper Jam's existence which both isn't true but it also defeats the entire point of having a Paper Mario (Character) article and siting Paper Jam as his first appearance, but you're also making an assumption of a past game's creators intent because of something that was made 11 years later. That's against wiki policy and it also isn't even it would work if Mario had an established timeline anyway. The first three games have continuity ties to the Main series such as Luigi's Diary mentioning the sports, Party, and Kart series, as well as setting up the plot to Luigi's Mansion and having connections to Sunshine and SuperStar Saga with the Delfinos and Beanish people being in the games. And it also has Goombario and Goombella's tattles mention that the Mario in the Paper Mario games is THE Mario from Super Mario Bros. 1. That is more valid than a game that came later that doesn't even have any continuity ties to the previous games other than Sticker Star anyway.

And it was also only the second time. Edit warring is when you do it three times in a row. If there were days or weeks in between the edits it isn't an edit war. Secondly, You're making assumptions based on a book opening that is only used as a thematic and not as an actual world. The proposal was to use Paper Jam, not the Paper Mario games. Something having a stylized intro that has a traditional once upon a time book opening format does not mean the adventure itself actually happened within the book nor does it mean that the characters and world are actually made of paper. It means it's an art style choice and the characters are the same ones as the main platforming series because they are connected and exist and happen within the same world. If you get the admins involved they'll likely agree with me because they were the ones who put that into the article in the first place. I'm sorry if that came across as rude because of it being text, but I very much doubt that taking that off of the articles will be something seen as a good change.

Edit. Already resolved it seems. I should have read the other talk page first before typing all this out. I'm glad this was worked out, and I hope you have a good day. The way I was wording the article before was unneeded and was fueled by my own obsessiveness, so I understand why they were reverted then. My apologies and I hope you have a good day.

Further edit. Since you seem to have forgotten, The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword both begin with a tale from the past being shown through a scroll of parchment paper. The characters and events are depicted in the style of parchment paper. However neither of those games exists in a world seperate from the main series and nothing about the book presentation in TTYD or Super Paper Mario had any implications of it not being the real Mario world. It's showing the world of Mario to us the player in the style of a story book or comic book but it isn't actually in any book at all. The multiple instances of references to past events in 3D and 2D games as well as the characters from Paper Mario appearing later in 3D games and not being made of paper (which if they were in a book world they'd have been paper in the real world like the characters in Paper Jam are) which heavily suggests, no completely confirms that the Paper Mario games take place in the main Mario world and that the paper elements are just a visual style like cel shading and chibi models is for Windwaker.

We've had the same issue with Merlon and his relatives. There is no indication that there are multiple versions so the same so the same applies here not every edit you make is going to stay there forever; you don't own the content you put on this wiki and we have the right to remove it if we feel it's unneeded. Yes there is no idication that they're in the book but there is also no indication that it's the same Mario from the main series that's why I removed it. This is starting to turn into an edit war which is a very unconstructive way to be contributing and it could get us both into trouble, also I advise creating an account too. Except that it isn't the same situation at all? Firstly yes, there actually is an indication that they are multiple ones because the Merlon in Super Paper Mario doesn't recognize Mario despite Mario living really close to Merlon. Like, this stuff is really easy to get if you just pay attention when playing the games...

You say that but the admins are the one who told you several months ago to leave it alone after I edited it to the version it was at so if anything it's you who is causing an edit war, not me. I get you're just trying to help but you haven't played the games countless times and haven't noticed all the clear indications that prove what I've said.

If Goomba King, Star Spirits, Koopatrols, and Whacka re-appearing in fully 3D games, the coin block from Paper Mario in SuperStar Saga, and the fact that the games flat out say "They've been around since YOU (as in the you you're playing as not an alternate world version) were in Super Mario Bros, and references to Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Luigi's Mansion foreshadowing in Luigi's Diary in PM64 don't count as indications that it's the same Mario from the main series then I don't think anything is going to convince you which in that case it's you just not getting it rather than it not being true.

I've tried making an account. It rejected my password after I logged out the first time.

The way Merlon doesn't remember them could be for the same reason Popple and Kylie Koopa don't remember the bros in Dream Team. Also a tip to keeping your password would be to write it down in notes that way the next time you get logged out just copy whatever you wrote and huzzah you're back in. Popple and Kylie Koopa don't live right next door to Mario though and didn't give him continuous advice throughout the game. Memory makes more connections than that. If you've met someone and talked to them several times throughout the course of two games then you're not going to forget them by the third game. The fact that they each have different appearances should be enough of an indication they aren't the same person. It's like Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny from Pokemon.

Even if what you were saying was the case There is really no point in having a separate Paper Mario character article that doesn't talk about Mario's roles in the Paper Mario games if it doesn't clarify that they aren't the same person.

Thank you for the advice on the login thing. I might try that sometime. I appreciate the no hard feelings from this all of this.

You're welcome and I forgive you. :) Sprite of Black Ninjakoopa, from Paper Mario. Sprite of Red Ninjakoopa, from Paper Mario. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) 18:50, 3 November 2016 (EDT)

Please don't edit in text for the sole purpose of removing it, as that can be considered vandalism. The wiki is not a forum - if you want to ask questions of that sort, then use the actual forum we have. --ExdeathIcon.png Lord G. matters. ExdeathIcon.png 05:16, October 8, 2019 (EDT)

I apologize. I didn't know about the forum.

(Been so long forgot how to link actual user stamp so here's my attempt.)
