Talk:Wendy O. Koopa

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to search

Uh.... Wow. This article is just terrible. It's filled with about 90% useless things, and is all presented in a very confusing and incredibly disjointed way that barely makes sense.

While the facts are here, they are cobbled together and is incredibly bad. I don't even have the time or patience to set about fixing this, but if someone could re-write this from scratch, it'd probably look a heck of a lot better than it does.

It looks like someone cut and pasted it from the Wikipedia article a long time ago. -- VederJuda 11:57, 7 May 2006 (EDT)

For the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga section, I thought that this File:WendyMLSS.jpg was the correct image not this Unused animation of Wendy O. Koopa in Super Princess Peach. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk) P.S. That's why I uploaded the image!

Wendy O. Koopa[edit]

What does the O. stand for? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

It is never revealed, but she's named after Wendy O. Williams, a famous musician whom she gets her named after. Ludwig von Koopa is another good example, he gets his name from Ludwig von Beethoven.--FREAK ~Game GameBros.png Freak~ OUT!
So what does his O. stand for? Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Nothing I guess, and do you mean her O.?--FREAK ~Game GameBros.png Freak~ OUT!
Yes I mean her. My bad. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Wait, wasn't he Ludwig Van Beethoven? Reshiram.pngSupermariofan14Artwork of the Generation V Pokemon, Zekrom
Actually, yes. And Williams' "O." stands for "Orlean". Time Questions 07:22, 3 January 2010 (EST)
So her name could be Wendy Orlean Koopa. But that is speculation which is not allowed on this wiki so the O. will remain a mystery. You could ask Nintendo if you want. Technickal 10:13, 4 December 2011 (EST)-

Since Bowser is king, wouldn't that make Wendy a princess?

Poison Mushroom Orb in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. EditionDigibutterFrancis

WRONG! Remember Shigeru Miyamoto did that little interview and said that the Koopalings were actually NOT Bowser's children? Sprite of Dimentio.InvincibleZtarThe Dark Star's idle sprite.

Depends on the definition of Prince/Princess (and yes, there other types of Princes/Princesses besides those who are next in line to kingship/queenship due to blood ties). If you go by the definition of simply a person who rules over a sector of a kingdom and reports to the ruler without necessarily being a relative (in other words, similar to a Governor), she would technically qualify as a princess under that. Also because she is King Koopa's daughter in the show she can keep her princess status that way. (talk)

The second reference takes you to the Japanese website.

Can she have a chinese name?[edit]

If there is a chinese name, I think 温迪 should be good. -- 00:49, 5 September 2014 (EDT)

We don't make the names, we just report them. Unless a Chinese version of a game (or a tie-in website or whatever) she's in has actually provided 温迪 as her name, we can't add it to the page. - Walkazo 11:20, 5 September 2014 (EDT)

New voice in games[edit]

Regarding a recent edit that was made, the voice for Wendy was different in Mario Kart 8. This is the actress' resume, which lists the role in Mario Kart 8 <!documentary/ck0q>. I haven't seen any of the Koopalings in Smash so I can't attest to Ashley Flannegan being the latest portrayal or not. Kyubihanyou (talk) 10:11, 19 September 2014 (EDT)

The 30th anniversary books' bios of Wendy O. Koopa[edit]

After a hiatus, I'm finally adding the bios for Wendy O. Koopa from the 30th Anniversary Books! Of course, like before these are just transcriptions with a bad tentative translations based on online translators, so help is needed! There she is called ウェンディ.

Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros.

Characters' pages bio
Precocious young girl [that acts as a] tomboy. The only female of the Koopalings.

Super Mario Bros. 3 enemies section
Boss of World 3. Attacks with a ring that flies around the screen.

Super Mario World enemies section
Boss of Chocolate Island. Same as Lemmy, but in the room there are Zigzag Lava Bubbles.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii enemies section
Boss of World 4. Throws rings that bounce around the screen.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 enemies section
Boss of World 3. Fills the room with water to avoid getting stomped.

New Super Mario Bros. U enemies section
Boss of Frosted Glacier. While skating [literally, sliding] on ice, she throws rings.

Super Mario Memorial Book
The only female of the Koopalings. Girlish, she wears a big bow with polka dots on her head.

Now, I had troubles with 「おしゃまでおてんば」 and 「女の子らしく」, the first should state that she's both a precocious girl (「おしゃま」) and a tomboy (「おてんば」), the second appears to state something like girlish, even though the Encyclopedia underlines that she's a tomboy.--Mister Wu (talk) 17:13, 14 April 2016 (EDT)

What does Wendy say at the end of her battle in the Japanese version of Paper Mario: Color Splash?[edit]

We now have also the Japanese video of the battle with Wendy, and this time there are no big surprises. Still, it would be interesting to understand what Wendy says in the end:

さすが マリオってかんじ。
まあ せいぜい

If I'm reading it correctly, Wendy says that she likes Mario, but I would like to know if I'm getting the meaning correctly.

Who Is She Referring To In Her Quote? Can't someone please edit it?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

She's referring to Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario. But the quote only links to Mario, so something should be done about that.
