Merge with Ultra Mushroom[edit]

don't merge 2-5

I thikn this page should be merged with Ultra Shroom because the Ultra Shroom page already mentions these games. Note: this page was made for the Ultra Mushroom page talk but it redirects here.

Merge with Ultra Mushroom[edit]

  1. Dry Paratroopa (talk) Per proposal. I should've added this a long time ago *shrugs*.
  2. Zero777 (talk) I am Zero! Ultra Mushroom is a stub, it will be a good idea to merge the two. It will be a little tricky of how you're going to pull this off, but it could possibly work. Zero signing out.

Leave un-merged[edit]

  1. Baby Mario Bloops (talk) - Just because the name sounds the same, or they look alike doesn't mean that they have to be merged. They heal differently, they have different names, appear in different games, and most of all, aren't the same item!!!
  2. Fawfulfury65 (talk) Per BMB. Why don't we just merge Super Mushroom, Ultra Mushroom, and Max Mushroom together? They are all from the same series so it could work.
  3. I will help the mariowiki a lot (talk) THEY ARE DIFFERENT!!! And per the mario in yoshi's island ds bloops.
  4. Pseudo-dino (talk) Per Baby Mario Bloops.
  5. King Bean (talk) Per BMB. They aren't the same item, they just have a similar name.

Comments[edit]

The names are similar, but they look differently from each other and heal a different amount of health. Mentioning the other in such detail is just speculation, so if they aren't merged I'd say cut it down to a single line or even just a trivia point. The only reason I'd support merging, besides sysop consensus, is if both items are on the same "tier" of healing-mushrooms. You know, both are the "fourth" most powerful healing mushroom in their respective games, which would be the only indication that they were meant to be the same/serve the same role. Redstar 08:51, 17 December 2009 (EST)

Uhh... They look pretty similar to me... Both are green mushrooms. The only difference is the "U" on the Paper Mario one. BLOC PARTIER.
Stylistic choice, of course. Again, I won't support this unless they occupy close to or the actual tier in their respective games. If one Ultra really means "second-strongest mushroom in the game", and the other means "second-weakest", then they're likely not the same. Redstar 16:19, 26 December 2009 (EST)

I think that picture on the Ultra Mushroom page aren't Ultra Mushrooms, but 1-Up Mushrooms. Because, what I've seen in PiT (my bro has the EU version), is that the Mushrooms are categorized in three types; indicated with colors. Red ones are healing items (Normal Mushrooms), Green ones are reviving items (1-Up Mushrooms) and Yellow ones are items that heal everyone (Mushroom Drops). Ultra Mushrooms are healing items, so they should be red instead of green, since there are only two green Mushrooms in the game (1-Up Mushrooms and 1-Up Supers). 60px-ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits)

Your color-coordinated categorization may old up in some media, but none that come to mind. The images are correct. Redstar 09:04, 30 December 2009 (EST)
It IS so. By the way, it was never mentioned they appeared in Bowser's Inside Story, while there's an image of it. Another reason that those aren't Ultra Mushrooms. 60px-ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits)
And if you REALLY don't believe it: HERE. This is my proof. 60px-ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits)
Interesting. We'll have to look into this. Redstar 02:02, 1 January 2010 (EST)
My brother has both the first and second games of M&L, and those are indeed 1-Ups. Also, that picture doesn't look ripped and edited. User:Dry Paratroopa/sig
Someone had added the wrong image there. The picture in the Ultra Mushroom article now is what it really looks like. They do not look the same. Fawfulfury65 (talk)
Ah, I stand corrected. I was simply looking at the picture on the wiki. My bad. Bloc Partier (talk)

Apparently, I have to list this as no quorum, since a majority of three votes isn't present. Anybody know what that means? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Excuse me but this is like one day later over what it supposed to be and when it will be passed/failed??? I will help the mariowiki a lot (talk)

Well, it looks like a tie, but there aren't enough votes anyway. Should we extend the deadline, or bag it and leave the articles alone? Fawfulfury65 (talk)
I've already extended it twice. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
No, because then the article would not pass and the don't merge side would win when the votes are even. That would not be fair. PEOPLE NEED TO VOTE HERE NOW. User:Dry Paratroopa/sig
I will vote then. I will help the mariowiki a lot (talk)

Fawfulfury65, they have different effects. The two Ultra Shrooms are pretty exact.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dry Paratroopa (talk).

That doesn't really mean they should be merged. They are both different items from different games and look almost entirely different. I'd prefer them to be merged with Mushroom, along with the other shrooms' of the M&L series. Fawfulfury65 (talk)

Now what. There is 2 support votes and 4 oppose votes and it is like 1 hour after the deadline. What do we do??? I will help the mariowiki a lot (talk)

Nothing. We will not merge them. Someone needs to archive it. Fawfulfury65

SOMEONE NEEDS TO ARCHIVE THIS!!! I will help the mariowiki a lot (talk)

To me, it seems odd that this page would still retain an old name that has been different sine 2009. To remedy this, I'm going to throw in two different options for how to go forward: rename the whole page to Ultra Mushroom, or split out the Mario & Luigi series information into Ultra Mushroom. I'm not entirely sure which option is more viable, but I'm throwing them both out because really, I think something ought to be done. (And the same goes for this scenario.)

Rename to Ultra Mushroom[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) This is the best option overall, given that it serves the same role in all appearances, apparently only the English localization shortened the name in the Paper Mario series (presumably for space constraints, like how Koopa Paratroopa is referred to as Paratroopa in battle), and going with the split option would leave the original Max Mushroom from Super Mario RPG marooned. I see no benefit in splitting it.
  2. YoshiFlutterJump (talk) Per LinkTheLefty. They have the same name in all localizations except English, likely because of space constraints, and are functionally similar to M&L Ultra Mushrooms given that they both heal a high amount of HP. Splitting them would just be redundant.
  3. Yoshi the SSM (talk) Per LinkTheLefty.
  4. Niiue (talk) Per all.
  5. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per LinkTheLefty.
  6. Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) I think they're similar enough to stay merged.
  7. JoeRunner (talk) Per all.
  8. Power Flotzo (talk) Per all.
  9. bwburke94 (talk) Per LinkTheLefty.
  10. MarioManiac1981 (talk) Per LinkTheLefty and YoshiFlutterJump.
  11. FanOfYoshi (talk) Second option.

Split the Mario & Luigi series information into Ultra Mushroom[edit]

  1. Mario Sakuraba (talk) I'd go with this one.
  2. FanOfYoshi (talk) This is more likely.

Do nothing[edit]

Comments[edit]

Shouldn't its appearance in Super Mario RPG be merged with Max Mushroom? It even functions as one, restoring all HP; the only reason we have it here is because there is nothing called an "Ultra Mushroom" in the game. It's a bit more complicated because the Mario & Luigi games seem to have two types of Max Mushroom: the ones in earlier games that recover all HP, and the ones in later games that merely recover more HP than an Ultra Mushroom. The remakes could be double-checked, but given current information, a discussion on how to handle multiple Max Mushrooms is really a separate issue. LinkTheLefty (talk) 07:39, September 10, 2019 (EDT)
