RE:SMO Moons

No problem at all. It's not a draft, I just moved it to my userspace as kind of an archive. The {{Kingdom}} template is perfectly fine as it is right now. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 14:42, 7 January 2018 (EST)

Yeah, even then, it's tough, as only about half of the episodes have made it to YouTube. I'm still trying to find a website where the remaining episodes are legitimately archived, but if you see any full episodes other than those in this video, feel free to let me or someone else know, on the wiki, forums, or otherwise. Since most people would refer to the original SMM's levels by their names and not their supposed code on the level select screen, I think the 3DS levels should drop the identifiers. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:52, 16 February 2018 (EST)

I don't own Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars for 3DS or Wii U. If you own a New Nintendo 3DS, I believe it is possible to upload screenshots like you could for the Wii U. The older 3DS model can't do that. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:15, 23 February 2018 (EST)

Mario vs DK Tipping Stars

Are you planning on featuring that page? BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 18:02, 24 February 2018 (EST)

Oh, I mostly came here to praise you for your work. I think the characters table can be replaced with a gallery of characters rather, because it fits on all devices. If you want to find media, well, Smash Custom Music has only one song, unfortunately. I'm not sure about YouTube, may have music on there. I'm not too knowledgeable about the game, sadly, so I don't know what elements are missing aside from the obvious missing things on the article that I'm sure you're working on. You can find rips of raw music files from games on HCS. And many of the formats can be played with foobar + plugins. --Hiccup (talk) 11:41, 26 February 2018 (EST)

Draft proposal

Hi, just letting you know I just drafted a proposal (which, by the way, cannot be proposed until 22 April 2018 at 23:59 GMT) that borrows heavily from Glowsquid's proposal from nearly three years ago, in order to counteract the clear decision of your failing proposal, plus a few additional things I'd like to see happen. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or anything you'd like to see added. Thanks! Well, yes, it's not perfectly more accurate, but it's the most accurate we can use for now (or at least until I find a more accurate term). And I did mention that all planets, including Earth itself (and the Mushroom World), are technically in outer space too. Re: Mini-Land Mayhem

Notice this on Toadette the Achiever's talk page. And since I have the game, I can tell you about it. And all except the Play and Edit section looks good. Since I have the game, I could write about it and give proper details... if you want me to do it. Also, there is Challenge Mode as part of Construction Zone. This will require research and not the game to do because all of it requires Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. At least it has an in-game description of "The Construction Zone has a Challenge Mode where you can try to build the best levels based on the latest Challenge Mode Template." Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 11:57, 22 March 2018 (EDT)

Looking good. But yeah. Challenge Mode and Online Share are no available. But if they were (as in a limited number of people could do it), it would not be as great as it was. Local share for me is hard to do since I don't know anyone else with the game. As for Help Mode: First, I want to point of that is has a different function in this game: as it gives pictures of items touched and gives ideas on how to use it. Also, it is only in the actual levels themselves including the play part of the Construction Zone. So I am wondering about location of this. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 09:41, 30 March 2018 (EDT)
Not really. But for stuff that does have text is not really tips. For example, taping on a Mini in help mode says (I am paraphrasing and expanding a bit as it is short in-game), Minis can't be interacted with after they are touched. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 09:54, 30 March 2018 (EDT)
Oh those. Well I am not sure when they are unlocked, but I have them unlocked. Audio consists of 137 different songs numbered (no names) from the start-up to game over and 235 different sound effects numbered from Mini Mario start to thanks for playing speeches. Gallery has Movies (Intro, Ending 1, and Ending 2), Attraction Intros (8 numbered worlds' intro + pluses are separate), DK Intros (all 9, no repeats), and Game Credits (basically the staff). But besides those unlockable, there are the start-up, which can be interacted with as there are Minis that make sounds when touched but that's all, and demos that appear if a player waits long enough for them. But, if you don't want to add (either or both) them, then that's fine. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 12:09, 2 April 2018 (EDT)

RE:Mini-Land Mayhem

Matter-of-factly, I do. I'll tell you right now that I can't determine much about the item-and-object limitations in the Construction Zone even after playing around with it a bit, but I'll tell you what I do know: All eight of the main worlds' assets (except Coaster Hills's, which are available be default) are unlocked once said world is beaten. Final Ferris Wheel instead unlocks assets from Rainbow Summit and Secret Storage, and Coaster Hills unlocks the "Key" and "Multi-Door" templates. Hope that helps! That theme plays in the game's Mini Guide. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 14:58, 27 March 2018 (EDT)

RE:Two things

  1. I was planning on overhauling the main page myself once I was done with the level articles, but I appreciate the help and I accept! It'll get the page done faster! One less thing for me to do.
  2. Pages that have more information on the Donkey Kong Wiki than we have here on the Super Mario Wiki will be "merged", as in any missing or improved information will be carried over to here. The Retro Gamer said he'd look over the pages between both wikis and compare them, but I see no harm in helping him out with some examples. Same for the pages that are "equally good", they will be compared and any missing or improved information will be carried over.

Hey, just felt like giving a heads up here! There are Mario & Wario levels that goes to level 10, so it seems that identifiers for Level 1-7 and Level 1-8 (and any subsequent seventh and eighth level) for Tipping Stars are necessary. I know I said otherwise on Toadette the Achiever's talk page, but I didn't know of or completely forgot about the Mario & Wario levels then. So...yeah, there's that. The level template and main level articles should be amended, but otherwise, doing good! EDIT: And before I forget again, thanks for the work on the Mario vs. Donkey Kong worlds table! Helicopter "Yoshi"

Just so you know, April Fools' jokes shouldn't go on the actual articles, and File:HelicopterYoshi.jpg has been marked for deletion. If you want to keep it as a personal image, you can, but please don't do this again, okay? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:08, 1 April 2018 (EDT)

Oof, didn't remember that. I don't know, April Fools' is a strange day for us. Like, I'm all for joking around and stuff, but I also know that we're supposed to provide accurate information. If someone reads an article with an April Fools' prank on it, and not know it's a joke (unless it's blatantly obvious), they might take that as fact. The Bob Hoskens quote change you shared is a good example of that: If you don't know of Bob's experience with the film already, and you see the quote Magikrazy posted, what would you think?
Long story short, you didn't do anything wrong. Considering what day it is, we're more lenient about this (hence why you didn't receive a warning). I think it would be best if the jokes were kept off of the main articles, but that may be just me. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:55, 1 April 2018 (EDT)

I thought it was funny. I decided to ‎archive it. If you don't want this archived, you reserve the right to request deletion for the rules laid out on MarioWiki:BJAODN. Just be sure to tag File:HelicopterYoshi.jpg for deletion as well if you decide to tag the archived version of Helicopter Yoshi for BJAODN. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:54, 2 April 2018 (EDT)

'Tis a shame. Oh well. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:20, 4 April 2018 (EDT)
If you are not 100% OK with keeping things deleted, talk to Yoshi876 (talk), as he is the one that deleted the page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:41, 4 April 2018 (EDT)

RE: Level images

Ah, I see what you were going for. Okay, I agree, feel free to revert them back or I'll do it in a bit :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:47, 14 April 2018 (EDT)

Just thought that showing the level selection for all levels would make the chart look consistent. But I agree with what you said, showing off a level to show what the readers/players can expect is a better idea. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:54, 14 April 2018 (EDT)

Music themes column on DKC levels table

I noticed that you previously added a music themes column to the DKC levels table. I'm thinking about removing it, for a few reasons. To begin with, the track names lack meaning without any other context. I suppose the table cells could be modified later to embed a sample sound file of each track, but I don't think this information belongs in the main level table of the article: it feels like side information that's not directly relevant to summarizing the levels. They are also completely redundant with the current DKC level types separation (see here). --The Retro Gamer 01:27, 25 April 2018 (EDT)

The main point I intended to emphasize is that the music isn't important enough to mention in the main levels table, regardless of terrain correspondence. The music is already listed on the individual levels' pages (via the |song= parameter of {{Levelbox}}.) I don't think it is useful for most readers to also list this in the main levels table. If a reader is browsing the main levels table, the music is less relevant because of its audio format than things like terrain, bonus levels, and enemies (not currently included in the DKC levels tables; maybe it should be added.) One can only understand music by listening to it; the track names are just names otherwise.
As a counterargument though, I suppose one could argue that because of the soundtracks, the music in DKC is more well-defined and more notable then other games. I still don't think this means including this information in the main levels tables for the articles is useful for navigation. But if it were to be included in the main levels, I think it must also include a sample of what the music sounds like. --The Retro Gamer 12:47, 27 April 2018 (EDT)

"They shouldn't get away with this"

They also shouldn't get away with porting/slightly remaking the games from the previous generation when they were already HD to begin with, and especially shouldn't remake every game from the previous generation, that punishes people who actually stuck with them through the Wii U era and rewards the defectors. They should make a fully-new Mario Kart and DKC game for the Switch, instead of adding 5 USD worth of things and calling it a day, but whatever. I still await the day they contact Playtonic to help Retro remake the original three DKC games a la Returns, which actually would be worth whatever price they asked for. Sorry I rambled a bit there.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:54, 30 April 2018 (EDT)

Automating power moon proposal implementation

I was looking at the Power Moons proposal list, and it looks like it would be really easy to automate creating redirects using a script. This would save humans more than a thousand future edits to create the remaining necessary redirects. The only trick is choosing which redirects to create; I've created a script which varies redirects using capitalization/title case, removal of terminating punctuation, and removal of mid-title punctuation. For example given your example List of Power Moons in the Metro Kingdom#How You Doin', Captain Toad!, it would create 8 redirects:

How You Doin', Captain Toad! How you doin', captain toad! How You Doin Captain Toad! How you doin captain toad!
How You Doin', Captain Toad How you doin', captain toad How You Doin Captain Toad How you doin captain toad

However, I notice you've also additionally done other combinations of punctuation, so perhaps it could be modified to do every recursive case of punctuation? At the very least, the bot could handle capitalized and lowercase versions of punctuation-less anchors, which would take a large load off human editing. --The Retro Gamer 20:11, 1 May 2018 (EDT)

EDIT: Actually, in the current redirects to the example above, I notice none of the capitalization/title-case redirects have been done; instead, only every single combination of punctuation has been done. Using all combination of punctuation and capitalization, the number of redirects for any given title would be 2^(1 + # of punctuation characters) --The Retro Gamer 20:41, 1 May 2018 (EDT)

Huh, I see now. So if it it's all caps, it doesn't need a lowercase variant to redirect (since it apparently catches the lowercase variant in the search), but it does need a lowercase variant when one of the words is lowercase; I can tweak my algorithm to accomodate that.
Regarding the punctuation, I was just curious if there was any selection going on or if you were just making a version with each punctuation mark present and removed? --The Retro Gamer 19:42, 2 May 2018 (EDT)
