New Super Mario Bros. series

Seeing as there are now four New Super Mario Bros. games, should there be a page for the subseries? Pokemega32 06:56, 8 June 2012 (EDT)

We should, seeing as that we have series articles for the Mario Baseball and Mario Strikers series, despite both of them currently only have two games in the series. GreenDisaster 07:25, 8 June 2012 (EDT)
Apples and oranges. The NSMB series is an extension of the core Super Mario platformer series: split it out and you have to split out the original SMB series, figure out what to do with SMW and SM3DL, and decide whether to include SMG and SMG2 in with the direct-sequel-less 3D platformers or give it its own subseries (and if you include remakes, SMA and SMAS would need addressing too). It's a very slippery slope. By comparison, even if there's only two of each, the Baseball and Strikers titles are completely unique from any other sports title. The only way you could not have them exist as series is by collapsing all the sports games into one mega subseries, but given the number of Tennis and Golf games, that would make organization an inefficient mess. Another thing to consider is that once you have series pages, that means rearranging the Histories too, which would be a huge undertaking, and would necessitate moving a lot of the core series info way far down the Histories. Seeing as these games are the backbone of Mario franchise as a whole, keeping them together, as high as possible on the pages, makes far more sense. Reorganizing Super Mario (series) to lump the different Super Mario branches might be a good idea, however, as long as there's still a bullet-point list at the top showing the straight chronological order of all of 'em, or something like that. - Walkazo 20:47, 8 June 2012 (EDT)

I am not sure, because the series is only 4 games, and it is part of the Super Mario series, like many other games. So we can, but we should make one for each subseries. User: Owen422

Concerning the trivia section.

"Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! (pictured) is the first game in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series which Pauline is giving a voice."

Not only is this grammatically incorrect, it's also wrong. When Donkey Kong '94 was played on Super Game Boy, Pauline's cries of "help!" could be heard in a digitized voice. It doesn't work on emulators, but I recall seeing a video of it some time ago which I can't seem to find again. So if someone else could provide proof, that would be much appreciate it. - SiFi 07:25, 16 June 2012 (EDT)

While she does speak in DK94 (here's proof), the Trivia's about the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series, and DK94 is more of a precursor to the series, so it's not actually wrong. (But the grammar has been fixed.) - Walkazo 18:55, 17 June 2012 (EDT)

Organization of Games?

I'll like to know how are the games in character articles are organized? Like are they organized alphabetically or chronologically or something else? Zero777 (talk)

History sections are chronological, but grouped by series; if there's a stand-alone game or if only one game in a series appears, don't bother with a series sub-header. Templates are supposed to be purely chronological, with any series-wide template being placed at the point in which the series first appears. Categories are alphabetical. Non-game-based templates and categories go before the game-based templates and categories, except for merchandise-based categories, which go at the very bottom. Here's a (hypothetical) comparison chart:

History
  • Super Mario series
    • Super Mario Bros. - 1985
    • Super Mario World - 1990
    • New Super Mario Bros. - 2006
    • Super Mario Galaxy - 2007
  • Mario is Missing! - 1992
  • Paper Mario - 2000
  • Mario Kart series
    • Mario Kart Wii - 2008
    • Mario Kart 7 - 2011
  • Mario Sports Mix - 2010
Templates
  • {Humans}
  • {Super Mario Bros.} - 1985
  • {Super Mario World} - 1990
  • {Mario is Missing!} - 1992
  • {Paper Mario} - 2000
  • {New Super Mario Bros.} - 2006
  • {Super Mario Galaxy} - 2007
  • {Mario Kart Wii} - 2008
  • {Mario Kart Series Characters}
  • {Mario Sports Mix} - 2010
  • {Mario Kart 7} - 2011
Categories
  • Humans
  • Mario is Missing! Characters
  • Mario Sports Mix Characters
  • Mario Kart 7 Characters
  • Mario Kart Wii Characters
  • New Super Mario Bros. Characters
  • Paper Mario Characters
  • Super Mario Bros. Characters
  • Super Mario Galaxy Characters
  • Super Mario World Characters
  • Chess Pieces
All this applies to all types of appearances, not just games: in other words, movies, comics, books and TV shows would all be mixed in with the games in the Histories, templates and categories. And just in case you're wondering, cameos go at the bottoms of History pages (under an overall "Cameos" subheader), and a "Background" section is sometimes included at the top, i.e. for characters that had history as babies (such as Bowser, who also has a "Cameos" section, by the way), or one-off characters who have backstory set before their game starts (like the Shadow Queen). There can even be a "Creation"/"Creation and Development" section placed before the History section, which covers the characters Real Life history; Luigi has an example of this sort of section. Finally, for the record, the polices themselves can be found here for the Histories, here for the Templates, and here for the Categories. - Walkazo 20:59, 19 June 2012 (EDT)
But wait! What about {Mario Party Characters}? king bill in position MEGAMUSHROOM82 that's me MP
I didn't use Mario Party in my example, so that's not applicable. It also wouldn't be a proper template if it even existed: templates should be about everything in a game, not just one aspect, and templates about one aspect across an entire series are also highly dissuaded (I just included a "MK Series Characters" template in my example to show how the odd acceptable series-wide template would be placed). - Walkazo 20:53, 30 June 2012 (EDT)

Change the Paper Mario fact!

Since both Spiky and Spiny Tromps appear in the new Mario game, the fact that shows which Paper Mario characters appear in 3D games should be changed to add them. --Spookum (talk) 21:14, 19 November 2012 (EST)

Ummm... neither of them appear in 3D Games, but i see how that might be true. Spiky must be Lakilester, since when you battle him he's known as Spiky. Both of them re-appear in Super Paper Mario, but only when Mario flips. But that also means every enemy that was remade into SPM must be 3D. Keep in mind that they still have 2D sprites. This is controversial, so whoever reads this should post a comment.File:Tweester.gif It's Meester Tweester! 05:58, 19 November 2012 (EST)
He's referring to the fact that Spiky Tromps and Spiny Tromps, which were originally Paper Mario series exclusive enemies, have made their debut in a traditional Mario platformer. Also, Spookum, please don't forget to sign your comments. --FREAK ~Game GameBros.png Freak~ OUT!

As the Poll Chairperson, let me say that the way our system works is that we use one week to nominate polls, and the second week to vote on them. It's a system that puts less strain on us, and gives more readers a chance to vote. I'd rather we not change this. Crocodile Dippy (talk) 17:22, 19 December 2012 (EST)

Japanese Names

Why do we use Katakana instead of Hiragana for the Japanese names of characters and enemies? I'm a bit curious. Binarystep (talk) 13:42, 1 August 2013 (EDT)

Because that's how Nintendo of Japan named them. As for why they did it, it's probably for the same reason anime, manga and other video game characters, items and species (like all the Pokémon) do it - which boils down to emphasis and branding stuff, as far as I know. Lots of the names are also onomatopoeia (like "Nokonoko" and "Patapata") or derived from non-Japanese words (i.e. "Mario", "Yellow Star" and even "Kuppa"), which are the other main uses of katakana. - Walkazo 19:04, 1 August 2013 (EDT)

Template Issue

When I used the Dtenemy template for the Block Monolift X enemy, the enemy template's title remained as Block Monolift even though I had set the template's title to Block Monolift X. If that didn't make sense, just compare the code on the page to what you actually see on the article and you'll see what I mean. Anyone know how to fix this? Icemario11 (talk)

Language

How make the Wiki in Spanish like it is in Italian and German? YoshiAwsumness (talk) 17:58, 5 December 2013 (EST)

Someone else would have to make a Spanish language wiki of their own and then approach us for affiliation and interwiki linking. That's what happened with the Italian and German wikis: we didn't make them, and have no plans on making any other language wikis ourselves either. - Walkazo 18:17, 5 December 2013 (EST)

Removing comments and warnings.

I know we have a policy against removing warnings and comments (for an understandable reason, too), but shouldn't we also address this potential "badge of shame" problem as well? We're not Wikipedia, but Wikipedia may have a good reason for why users are allowed to remove warnings as well, especially generally good-faith users removing them[1].
Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 01:26, 13 December 2013 (EST)

No. Warnings serve as a permanent record. Have you heard the saying, "China and reputation are easily shattered and never well mended"? Besides, what's happened in the past shouldn't matter what has happened in the present; if the user has redeeming himself after getting the warning, he has really no fear of getting another warning. To get a warning like this anyway, you'd be breaking the rules, something I think is deserved for acting before you think. Warning templates make it easier for us to keep track of users who are bad, and it also keeps track of their infractions which could lead them to a ban. If a user feels like a warning is undeserved, they may appeal it to remove any time. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 01:34, 13 December 2013 (EST)
Have you ever heard of the term "scarlet letter"? Warnings are meant to be... well, warnings, not branding users as misbehaving people for others to see. Restoring comments may lead to counterproductive edit wars. A better way to see how a user is going is through contributions, history pages, and block logs rather than talk pages. If people attempt to remove older warnings and reminders, especially after the issue is rested, restoring these warnings and reminders can respawn the problem. Appealing warnings does not remove them, as it leaves a blemish behind, showing where the warning previously was. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 02:02, 13 December 2013 (EST)
It depends on how you perceive it. Warnings are not intended to be scarlet letters. Rather, they're supposed to give users insight on what they had done wrong. Allowing them to remove warnings at will because it looks humiliating is petty. Besides, if the user decides to reform, this thing will become a relic of the past. If you really don't like it on your talk page, you can always archive it. Focus on the present and learn from your mistakes from the past. That's what the warning is supposed to be for. If you look at it another way, that's another way of saying that you take it too personally. People who assign this usually have nothing against you. Rather, they're just trying to help out by letting you know what you did wrong. If it's humiliating, I think you're just internalizing it rather than the issuer's true intentions. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 02:13, 13 December 2013 (EST)
Warnings are still treated like scarlet letters; scarlet letters are counterproductive and are often not worth it; also, removing warnings indicates that users have read the warning and understood what happened. Remember, we should assume good faith, not that the user removed it because they are ignoring it or they want to hide it. If users have stopped their distributive behavior and removed their warning, why should the warning be restored? They should not be permanent records. In fact, old warnings become irrelevant, so I don't see why those need to be kept anyway. They can be on archives, but they're still there and can be a painful reminder for some users. I think warnings being treated as permanent records can scare and intimidate new users, especially those that get warnings early.
By no means am I supporting vandals remove warnings at will. I do, however, want to consider the new users and users that haven't disruptive for years since the last disruption. Once the mistake is learned and corrected, we don't have to leave it as a mark.
Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 02:24, 13 December 2013 (EST)
I don't see any evidence of warnings being treated like scarlet letters, nor do I see how they are counter-productive. Usually, major infractions constitute a warning, and often these infractions are the ones counter-productive to the wiki, rather than the warning itself. Usually, minor infractions come with an informal reminder, then a reminder, then a warning. If the user still doesn't get the clue about what he is doing wrong, we have no choice but to enforce our policies. The warning is there to enforce our policies so less counter-productive activities will take place. Usually, bad editors are the ones who remove the warning template. Anyway, new editors should probably read our policy pages before taking action, just to know how it's like around here. Again, new users are susceptible to act, uh, nooby at times, and that's ok - we guide them and give them friendly, informal reminders. Warnings, however, are pretty severe actions compared to these. The warning is considered a permanent record. Just like your suspension or something. It won't get removed any time, and I don't see any benefit of removing it other than some deeply personal issue about it being "humiliating", which wasn't the warning's intention in the first place. You're still missing out on "focus on the present and learn from the past" from my comments. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 02:37, 13 December 2013 (EST)

I KNOW!: HOW ABOUT TWO CANCELLED MARIO GAMES BASED OF THE DIC TV SHOWS: JUST LIKE THE STORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SONIC XTREME WENT:

THE STORY BEGINS IN NOA WHEN A FRENCH DEV TEAM WANTS TO MAKE AND USE NINTENDO'S CHARACTERS TO BEAT SEGA'S SONIC CHAR. KING KOOPA'S KOOL GAME WAS A SEGA GENESIS GAME THAT WAS IN THE WORKS VERY SHORTLY AND SHOWN IN NP MAG 93'/2/19, IT SHOWED BOWSER GOING IN A CITY TURNING PEOPLE OF HOLLYWOOD TO KOOPAS OF KOOPAWOOD IT WAS CANCELLED BECAUSE IT WAS ON SEGA'S CONSOLE. WHY? BOWSER HATES MARIO AND SONIC HATES MARIO, THIS WAS BAD CHEMISTERY.

THE NEXT GAME AND FINAL ONE WAS MARIO ALL STARS. NOT THE GAME, BUT BASED OFF THE COMPILATION MARIO TV SERIES. THE GAME FOCUSES ON THE 4 PLAYER TECHNIC THE PLAYERS CONTROL MARIO,LUIGI, TOAD THE PRINCESS AND YOSHI. IT WAS SHOWN AT NINTENDO'S 1993 CHAMPION TOURS AS A PLAYABLE DEMO WITH A STANGE ADAPTER FOR 4 PLAYERS ON SNES SMILAR TO THE NES SATELLITE. IN 1994, THE GAME HAD A FULL ON DEMO TO BRING HOME IT WAS ONLY AVILABLE IN LATIN AMERICA,BRAZIL,FRANCE AND KOREA IT WAS IN THE NINTENDO MAG THEY HAD IN THERE COUNTRY. IN 1995 THE GAME WAS 75% OF COMPLETION AND WAS TIMED OUT OF MAKING THE GAME NINTENDO WAS IMPRESSED AND CANCELLED IT FOR DELAY LIMTATIONS.

THE LAST CANNED GAME WAS SUPER MARIO FX THE GAME WE KNOW NOT MUCH ABOUT BUT EXISTS IN HE DEV OF NINTENDO JAPAN THE GAME USED THE GAMES STYLE AND ENGINE FOR GAMEPLAY WITHIN 1995 AND 1996. THEN THE MOMENT CAME THE GAME WAS MOVED TO THE N64. THE CASTLE STILL EXISTS IN THE GAME WREAKING CREW 96' AS A LOST SPRITE FROM THIS GAME BUT MODDED FOR LATEST LOOK.

It's more than possible, but not allowed. If you want to create Fanmade pages, go to Fantendo or something. This is a wiki about facts, not fiction. But hey. at least you asked. - Ninelevendo's Sig Image 07:58, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
I meant that game exists, its a Mario game but is not made by Nintendo, but by normal users. -Nsmbufan (talk) 16:49, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
That's what a fan made game is. A game not officially made or licensed by the real company is usually considered fan made. - Ninelevendo's Sig Image 01:52, 19 July 2014 (EDT)
Fangames are not covered by the MarioWiki's coverage policy, regardless of if they are real fangames or just ideas for them. Superchao (talk) 02:45, 19 July 2014 (EDT)

Pictures?

I noticed some pictures are too big. Is there a way to make them smaller' and if there is' can someone please tell me how? - User:Joseph

If you mean images in articles, this help page should address your issue. If it does not, let me know. Mario4Ever (talk) 22:45, 18 July 2014 (EDT)

Thanks! You will be added to the user list! See my profile. Joseph (talk)

And' I still don't get it. Help if you can.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Joseph (talk).

If you want a file to be smaller, you need to put the amount of px in it down. If you want the size to be 100px then it should like

Images/Personal images.

How do you upload images' and how do you make personal images for your user page? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

See MarioWiki:Personal images for personal images, and Special:Upload to upload an image. Note that you are limited to four images maximum, plus only one additional for your signature.--

What step are you stuck in, exactly? Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:14, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

I want the steps for uploading images and personal images. Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

To upload images
  1. See the leftmost column?
  2. Underneath "tools", click on Upload file.
  3. (recommended) Read what's allowed and what's not allowed.
  4. Where "source filename" is, click on the big gray "Browse" button.
  5. Find the image you have to upload (.jpg, .png usually, check the permitted file types)
  6. Check if the destination file name is correct.
  7. In the edit summary, fill in the 1= part. You can simply remove the other parts.

  8. Add Joseph
  9. Select the licensing.
  10. Upload.
  11. Once the image is uploaded, put the name of the file (File:Image.png) in between brackets . Additional information is found in the upload page.

If you have questions, especially about the aboutfile or licensing part, ask me if you can. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:48, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

Can you please upload the image:Bowser Card? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

I don't know what the image is. If it's stored in the computer, you can upload it, and I can do the rest formatting. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:48, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

I don't get the aboutfile part. Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

Just change the variables that are in it to relevant stuff, Subject of the image should be what the image is about, Source is where you found the image, Artist is who made the image, Edited is whether there where any changes made to the image, Other Versions is for alternate versions of that image, say like it's missing some shadow or something. Yoshi876 (talk)
A bit late, but you can also delete the variables except for the first one so the others won't display. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:35, 28 July 2014 (EDT)

Plush images.

Am I allowed to upload plush images? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

Yes you can. We even have an article of plushies. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:49, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

Real life personal images.

Can I upload a personal image that shows real life stuff? Example:my dog. Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

As stated here, the only Personal Images you can't upload are ones with nudity, blood or violence. So a picture of your dog is perfectly fine. - Walkazo 11:14, 28 July 2014 (EDT)

Fanon articles for user pages.

I know I ask a lot of questions' but I'm new. Anyway' can you make a user page with fanon games? Example: user:Joseph/Mario & luigi:(name) Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

No. As per policy all user subpages must serve the wiki and seeing as we don't cover fan content it won't serve the wiki. Yoshi876 (talk)

But can I put it on here? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

You are not allowed to have "works of fiction" by policy, though, but that's a pretty vague statement. I think fanon games fall under that statement, but if you're doubting anything, it's safe to not do it. Also, if you want to ask some more questions, try the FAQ talk page. :) Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:26, 28 July 2014 (EDT)

Gif images

How do you make gif (animated) images? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

That's a bit out of scope for this wiki but I'll tell what you need: a dedicated image editor (GIMP or something, NOT MS Paint), layers for separate frames, and exporting the .gif as an animation. That's basically how you do it in a nutshell. I'd go more into detail but I'm mighty busy right now. You can drop a message on my talk page and I can tell you...at least I hope you understand. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 15:47, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
BTW if you're making gifs from videos, a gif capturing software is better suited since it's much less time consuming than doing it frame by frame BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 15:50, 29 July 2014 (EDT)

Deleting images.

How do you delete an image? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

You can't unless you are granted tools by the will of "administrators" (bureaucrats, the people in purple slobber in the recent changes). To flag it for deletion, however, add delete in the image page.
As I said, it's better to use the official FAQ talk page to ask common questions instead of here, but if you have no response, try contacting experienced users instead. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:14, 29 July 2014 (EDT)

Redirects.

How do you make redirects? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

#redirectPage
Say for instance, you want to redirect Fat Plumber Dude to Mario. You'd create an article called Fat Plumber Dude, and this would be its contents:
#redirectMario
As I said, this isn't the place to ask general questions. I've said this the third time.
Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 23:35, 8 August 2014 (EDT)

I put a question where you said' please answer. Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

Try learning by example by simply exploring, editing and copying what you find, rather than incessantly asking us to spoonfeed you every last simple little thing. Sorry, but it is getting tiresome. - Walkazo 18:41, 9 August 2014 (EDT)

How do you sign up for the 'Shroom?

I want to write a monthly section ("From the Mushroom Vaults") for the 'Shroom. I've gone to this page, but it did not tell me exactly how to sign up. Could anyone help? (If this is the wrong place to ask, please tell me.) Andyni, 6:16 PM EST, 14 November 2014

You get yourself a forum account on our forum then you send a private message to your appropriate director, in your case this bloke. Remember to fill out the sign-up form when you send in your application, and to write using our Manual of Style. Yoshi876 (talk)

This was very helpful! Thanks!!! Andymii (talk), 6:27 PM EST, 14 November 2014

Gamexplain discussion on it, I can't find what their source is, but it seems legit. Can anyone look into this? Toadbrigade5 (talk) 19:25, 12 December 2014 (EST)

I think we shouldn't add until we see a poster, a trailer, and other stuff to prove. Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

News Date Mix-up

May I ask why a November news segment is above a December news segment? With out an answer I feel Captain Toad is getting slighted. Warioad (talk) 18:28, 14 December 2014 (EST)

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was released in Japan on December 6, therefore it gets the top spot until something else comes out or Captain Toad is released in Europe.
-Toa 95 (talk)
Thank you. I didn't notice the Japanese release date because I just assumed it was the same news put back on top. Warioad (talk) 16:14, 15 December 2014 (EST)

Did you know

Uh.... Mario Kart DS says what console it's for too. Someone please add. Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg

It may use that generic system of naming like most games but that point refers to games that use the full title of the console in their name, which in that case would be "Nintendo DS", not just "DS"
-Toa 95 (talk)

Mario Kart DS is on the front page of the Wiki under Did You Know? as games with consoles in their name anyway, if that is what you are referring to. By the way, I agree with Toa 95; the front page should be changed. Andymii (talk) 16:47, 7 January 2015 (EST)

'Shroom front page minor error

Of the home page of the wiki, the link to the 'Shroom says the next issue is on December 20th, 2014, a date that is obviously passed. This is a minor error, but still an error nonetheless, so someone should change it. Andymii (talk) 16:44, 7 January 2015 (EST)

Typo

On the Did you know? section, in the Paper mario part it says "a occurs glitch" instead of "a glitch occurs". Can somebody fix that? Thanks.Wiggler57sugoiWiggler 09:57, 10 January 2015 (EST)

I am not an admin, but it does appear to be fixed by now. Andymii (talk) 16:38, 10 January 2015 (EST)

Oh, it just got fixed. Okay then. Wiggler57sugoiWiggler 17:10, 10 January 2015 (EST)

Club Nintendo shutdown date

The News section currently says that Club Nintendo "will be discontinued in all regions on September 30, 2015". This is incorrect. On its official site, the North American Club says "Club Nintendo program shuts down at 11:59pm PT on 6/30/2015." --Steve470 (talk) 06:25, 20 January 2015 (EST)

Fixed. Thanks for pointing it out. Wolf Link costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

Wrong romanization

Today's "Did You Know?" column gives pinyin for the Chinese characters "" and "", but the accents are wrong. The correct ones should be "sì" and "sǐ", respectively. (You can check them at Wiktionary.) Another gossip-loving Toad (talk) 07:59, 24 January 2015 (EST)

Thanks for spotting that; it's fixed now (here and on Ghost T.'s article). - Walkazo 17:32, 24 January 2015 (EST)

'Shroom New Idea

I have an idea for a new section of the 'Shroom. Basically, I am thinking of an article that wraps up what happened on the wiki during the last month, such as passed/failed proposals, created articles, non-wiki Mario news, and other noteworthy things (the 'Shroom is a newspaper after all!) If I want to create this section, who should I contact? Andymii (talk) 10:08, 24 January 2015 (EST)

Look here: The 'Shroom:Sign up. Pipe Plaza covers community stuff (but apparently someone's already writing that section); dunno about Mario news in general - usually that just goes in the news feed on the wiki's main page. - Walkazo 17:37, 24 January 2015 (EST)
Your idea would fall under Pipe Plaza, which is run by myself, so PM me on the Boards if you want. We have a section like that, Community Report, which details wiki policy updates and proposals (as well as TPPs), it just hasn't been in lately. Monthly Report sort of covers created articles, though it doesn't name them, just saying that our content has increased. With the news part, it has to be strictly Mario, unless you want to offer First Impressions on games, in which case contact Dippy. Upcoming Games also covers news, so contact our current director for that. Yoshi876 (talk)

Community Report is already taken by Driftmaster130, so I guess I'll take some time and find something else. Andymii (talk)

'Shroom New Idea (continued)

I have always wanted to give an in-depth analysis and test the legitimacy of this popular video (and it's sequel) made a little more than a year ago. However, the potential article does not fit in any categories, and will most likely be a one-time submission. Many it could go under a main section or a guest section. I will need to get it approved by Super Mario Bros. first, though. Andymii (talk) 16:44, 25 January 2015 (EST)

Second Person?

How formal is this wiki? Is second person acceptable or should every article be in third person? I've seen several uses of the word you in articles, and I just want to know if this should be changed or not. --J-Yoshi64 (talk) 23:11, 6 February 2015 (EST)

This wiki should use formal and standard writing, third person writing whenever possible since we strive for professionalism. If there are cases of second person usage, they are either added by an inexperienced editor, a quote, or part of in-game description. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 23:13, 6 February 2015 (EST)

Fun Facts Possible Error

One of the facts is that the only Super Mario game where Wario appears is Super Mario 64 DS. This appears to be false, because what about Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land? Should I fix this possible error? Andymii (talk) 16:15, 7 February 2015 (EST)

The Super Mario series refers strictly to the games in the "main" line of games (Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros, etc.), while SML3 is part of the Super Mario Land series, a subdivision of the main series that wouldn't be included otherwise. It's a bit misleading, but still correct. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Okay, thanks. In that case, I will not change anything. Andymii (talk)

User Bestiary List

I would like a list of users with their own RPG stats. Or at least do something like get more users to make their own RPG bestiaries. DREAMYDARKBOWSER777 (talk) 09:04, 8 February 2015 (EST)

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but we do have this. Andymii (talk) 09:18, 8 February 2015 (EST)

You think someone would do that? MarioKart7player (talk) 08:48, 10 February 2015 (EST)

Wow that is very neat. MarioKart7player (talk) 11:58, 11 February 2015 (EST)

Jeez guys, really?!

I was looking through the Blocked Users page (because I got bored and decided to look around) and... Jeez. Feel free to ban me for this if you feel the need, but I feel like something needs to be said.

THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY WIKI! Please, try to keep it clean just like how the Mario games themselves are. Please refrain from spouting inappropriate language through both your user name and the wiki articles. And it seems like you "spammers" and" trollers" just don't try at all! Constantly doing so WILL get you banned regardless of how sneaky or obvious you make your edits. I could care less if you guys have fun doing all that spamming, but it's not fun for anyone viewing the wiki. And imagine the strain you put on the moderators and wiki owners as well! They're trying their hardest to make this place accessible to all ages and anyone who wants to view it, and you guys are just making plain difficult.

This should hold true to all other wikis as well, not just this one. Find a "Spampedia" or something else to ruin.

There. I said what I wanted to. I know I'm not in charge here, so I could care less what happens to me now, but to all of you spammers and trollers out there, DON'T! PLEASE! (Alex95 (talk) 20:21, 16 February 2015 (EST))

Archive

Shouldn't this page be archived? It's significantly bigger than any other Talk:Main Page archive. Laikue (talk | contribs) 14:33, 17 February 2015 (EST)

I've been meaning too, but it only ever occurs to me to archive when people are in the middle of a conversation and by the time they're done I've forgotten. But whatever, I'll do it now, I guess. - Walkazo 17:09, 17 February 2015 (EST)
