List of collectibles in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Nintendo DS)
In the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, several types of collectibles can be earned for completing certain achievements within the game. The collectibles can be viewed within the game's Records menu under the Collectibles heading, where they are split into four groups consisting of medals, trophies, emblems and crowns. Each collectible has a name, image and description, as well as a hint at how to earn it before it is collected. Similar emblems were also included in the Wii version, and later games in the Mario & Sonic series also featured collectibles that could be earned in a similar manner.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games features sixteen different trophies to be collected, with each one being one for completing a different circuit. While each trophy has its own unique design, the designs for the trophies awarded for the circuits that feature the three same events share a similar design. For example, the Saturn, Satellite and Galaxy trophies all feature a similar shooting star-based design.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games features a total of forty different emblems for the player to collect, awarded for completing a variety of in-game objectives. While some emblems are awarded for one-off activities, groups of emblems are also awarded for completing all of a character's missions, winning gold medals in all of the Events of a class, and achieving a perfect score in point-based events. As of the 20th of May 2014, the Network Emblem is no longer unlockable due to the termination of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games also features seventeen uniquely-designed crowns as a collectible for winning a gold medal in all of the game's events with each playable character, as well as one for winning every event with every character.
