Optimize PNGs[edit]

For the benefit of anyone accessing MarioWiki, try to optimize your PNG uploads by using optimizer programs, such as PNG Monstrous or ExplodePNG. PNG Monstrous explains why you should. It's not a requirement, but it is recommended. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:09, 3 September 2016 (EDT)

Categorizing Images[edit]

Please stop forgetting to categorize images on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

You are uploading images and forgetting to categorize. Normally I would tell you how to but there is a proposal active about this sort of thing so I am going to point you there instead. It has information there how to do it. The actual proposal is about implementing a pre-written version of explanation how to categorize images. MarioWiki:Proposals#Implement Reminder Template About Categorizing Images By Game --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:04, 4 September 2016 (EDT)

Hello, YoshiFan155. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Image Uploads[edit]

When uploading screenshots that are sprite-based, upload at 1x zoom. For NES/SNES, it would be 256x224. I have a whole guide on expected resolutions. Adjust your emulator settings appropriately before taking screenshots. Why upload smaller? We can stretch it like so at it's correct resolution: Item Box - This image is actually 38x37! Also redundant pixels adds to file size exponentially with each enlargement above 1x. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:13, 30 October 2016 (EDT)

Do i need to upload images at 1x? Will something bad happen to me? Sorry that i'm asking out. YoshiFan155 (talk) 01:20, 31 October 2016 (EDT)
You won't get in trouble for uploading above 1x. It's just that we don't need enlargements of sprite-based games. Just standard size. We can enlarge on-the-fly as I demonstrated to you. Item Box Item Box (same image). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 04:55, 31 October 2016 (EDT)

Moving pages[edit]

Hello. The next time you move a page, please change all links found in Special:WhatLinksHere so we are not left with a bunch of redirects and even double redirects. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 10:16, 28 February 2017 (EST)

Is it possible to change every redirect instantly? YoshiFan155 (talk)
It's not. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 12:08, 9 March 2017 (EST)
Will i get in trouble for not changing the links? I move pages rarely anyway. YoshiFan155 (talk) 15:16, 9 March 2017 (EST)
