How do you upload a file? Mario MK7.png User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk · edits) Luigi MK7.png 19:50, 27 February 2015 (EST)

Click on the link on the sidebar that says "Upload File". However, this page isn't a Q&A for how to edit the wiki: we have MarioWiki:FAQ and its talk page for this sort of thing, although you should just read MarioWiki:Manual of Style and look through our many policy and help pages first, as most of the answers to potential questions are already explained somewhere. - Walkazo 20:22, 27 February 2015 (EST)

Thanks a lot! Mario MK7.png User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk · edits) Luigi MK7.png 20:56, 27 February 2015 (EST)

Wait, is it ok if I upload a non Nintendo image? Mario MK7.png User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk · edits) Luigi MK7.png 21:00, 27 February 2015 (EST)

I need to know how to make a image your personal image. Mario MK7.png User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk · edits) Luigi MK7.png 08:18, 28 February 2015 (EST)

Read MarioWiki:Personal images. Like I said, most info is already available somewhere: please look for answers yourself rather than posting questions here. This page is for discussing matters relevant to the Main page or wiki as a whole. - Walkazo 11:19, 28 February 2015 (EST)

I got it now. Thanks a lot! Mario MK7.png User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk · edits) Luigi MK7.png 17:31, 28 February 2015 (EST)

How do you make a new version of a image? Mario MK7.png User:Mario Kart 7 Rules (talk · edits) Luigi MK7.png 18:47, 1 March 2015 (EST)

You have to STOP asking these questions here. This is not a Q&A page. You upload new versions of an image by clicking the "Upload a new version of this file" link on the image's page. Now please, read some policy pages instead of inundating this page with questions about really basic, simple, intuitive things. - Walkazo 19:11, 1 March 2015 (EST)

April Fools Day 2015

April Fools Day is in less than a month. I was wondering, am I allowed on that day to humorously change the News section, Did You Know section, and make edits that usually would be considered "vandalism?" Of course, I know there would be some boundaries on what is and what isn't acceptable, but I can think of some funny things to put on the front page. This may be a stretch, but maybe I could make some fake articles as well? I mean, we have done this in the past years... Andymii (talk) 17:20, 5 March 2015 (EST)

We're not planning anything this year, and even if we did, it wouldn't be open season for every random user to add random garbage. --Glowsquid (talk) 18:06, 5 March 2015 (EST)

Okay, then. Andymii (talk)

why was i banned from the forums?

as it says. i really don't know why i was banned? like i don't even get any form of warning or anythings beforehand? Aiko HeiwaMSGContribs 01:02, 15 March 2015 (EDT)

You were banned for constant agrgessive behaviour toward other members, which is the reason you were permed in the first place. --Glowsquid (talk) 09:26, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
but that isn't FAIR, i wasn't acting aggressive at all! it says i was on thin ice but i was never informed i was on thin ice at all. i might as well just hurt myself now, since that was one of the few forums i gave a damn about Aiko HeiwaMSGContribs 10:37, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
So is my ban appeal regarding my entirely unfair and justified ban going to be ignored? Aiko HeiwaMSGContribs 04:04, 23 March 2015 (EDT)
Don't try to appeal your ban on one venue by making a scene on another venue: if anything, dragging problems around the community is more likely to cement your original block and could get you in trouble elsewhere (i.e. here) as well. Also, you're wrong that you weren't warned, because you were told that you were on your last strike - over a year ago, when your original ban was graciously lifted. Littering the community hub with your personal problems worked out for you that time, surprisingly, but it looks like your luck's not going to change this time around, so please stop posting here. - Walkazo 20:13, 23 March 2015 (EDT)
That isn't FUCKING FAIR. ALL OF YOU ARE JUST TRANSPHOBES AND THAT'S THE ONLY REASON I WAS BANNED! I BROKE NO RULES AND YOU ARE ALL JUST BIASED JERKS WHO BANNED ME TO GET RID OF A TRANSGENDERED USER. I MIGHT AS WELL JUST FUCKING KILL MYSELF BECAUSE YOU TRANSPHOBIC ASSHOLES DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANYONE BUT YOUR GODDAMN FUCKING HETERONORMATIVE WORLD. Aiko HeiwaMSGContribs 21:50, 23 March 2015 (EDT)
So what's your explanation for all the other transgender people who are accepted members of our community? - 2257(Talk) 22:03, 23 March 2015 (EDT)
I doubt they would ban you for being transgender. Also, threatening suicide won't help, and please drop it, you were told that you were banned for constant aggressive behavior towards other members. .::Toadette::. (talk) 22:06, 23 March 2015 (EDT)
EXCEPT I wasn't being aggressive towards ANYONE! And why is it fair that other user's act like assholes and they don't get punished, but I do?!? IT'S NOT GODDAMN FAIR. And it's not threatening suicide, I will do it. Aiko HeiwaMSGContribs 10:27, 25 March 2015 (EDT)

Oi, I'm trans and I'm helping run the bloody newsletter for this site; Turb is also trans and is an admin here. Everyone that's treated me like ass for being trans on the forums has been jumped on immediately and one even got banned for it. I know more than anyone else the kind of crap transfolk have to go through in society, I do, but don't use that card here, because it's absolutely not applicable. -Crocodile Dippy (talk) 01:58, 24 March 2015 (EDT)

Again, dragging forum drama onto the wiki is not acceptable, nor is the rest of your behaviour here, including making suicide threats, which we know to be hollow and something you have done on other websites as well. As you were told on your talk page, if you continue this, you will be blocked from the wiki. - Walkazo 15:03, 25 March 2015 (EDT)
That TV Tropes account isn't me, but fine, block me, I don't give a shit anymore. I just wanted to have my ban lowered to a few months ban, but if you're all going to be unfair, then block me from this site. Aiko HeiwaMSGContribs 00:02, 27 March 2015 (EDT)

So someone calls other people unfair after invoking transphobia and threatening suicide with the primary intent of influencing administrative action.

...sheesh, what a way to go. --Lord Grammaticus (talk) 13:29, 29 March 2015 (EDT)

Being the grammar police user I am, I can't help but notice that the banner on top of the wiki (the one saying "Issue XCVI of The 'Shroom has been released, be sure to check it out!") is a comma splice. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? --Andymii (talk) 22:31, 21 March 2015 (EDT)

Shroob Planet Article - Glitch?

So I was in the article Shroob Planet and I opened "discussion" then I selected "article" and it redirected to this: http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Shroob_planet&action=edit&redlink=1

I don't know if this is a thing with my computer or with everyones, But can someone take a look at it?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Koopinator (talk).

The problem was that the article had been moved from "Shroob planet" to "Shroob Planet" but the talk page wasn't moved with it because there was already a redirect leading back to the lowercase talk page on "Talk:Shroob Planet", blocking the move (and when you clicked on the discussion from "Shroob Planet", you were redirected to the unmoved discussion of the deleted "Shroob planet" page). It's fixed now. - Walkazo 12:46, 26 March 2015 (EDT)

Reverting joke news

I believe this should be done, what with the Nintendo Direct that is certain to have Mario game info. Laikue (talk | contribs) 17:19, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

We'll probably do it tomorrow. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 17:19, 1 April 2015 (EDT)
Before any changes are done, let's wait until the Direct actually happens instead of speculating about what might happen. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

So now we DO have April Fools news, directly contradicting what Glowsquid said a few posts above when I suggested helping (*sarcastic "hmph"* :P). Andymii (talk) 20:48, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

Well obviously we weren't going to announce that we were going to do another prank this year. It kinda ruins the joke - like when people post "this is a joke". If you want to do something, PM one of us, but we actually plan these things for months (it's the one fun ting we do behind the scenes) so in all likelihood, the answer will be "no". It's our right to keep it in-house: alongside the Anniversary, it's the only real public stunt the wiki pulls so we need to ensure it's well done, and users striking out on their own can undermine our efforts, or otherwise get out of hand. The official stuff's being archived, but the unauthorized fake FA nomination will be deleted shortly, as we don't want a copycat trend setting in if we keep trying to do these events moving forward. We hope the users understand. - Walkazo 22:20, 1 April 2015 (EDT)

Random article ?

Good Evening, Could you do it in the home page, let me explain:

1. Today, April, 11 2015, there Toadette, but tomorrow, there will be example: Bowser

What ? No ? ----File:YoshiYellow-MK8.png Captain Yoshi (Yes ?)File:YoshiYellow-MK8.png 04:59, 12 April 2015 (EDT)
It's because you seem to have misinterpreted what this "random article" is. It's not just some random article someone got from hitting the random page button, it's actually one of our featured articles (the best ones on the wiki). These change weekly on a Saturday to the next FA in the queue. It's a system that's been done for years now, and it won't be changed to showcase some random article from the wiki. Yoshi876 (talk)
Nor will a "random article" feature be added in addition to the FA. - Walkazo 15:22, 12 April 2015 (EDT)
Ah... Ok ----Captain Yoshi File:YoshiYellow-MK8.png 13:19, 13 April 2015 (EDT)

New Mario Kart 8 Tracks

You're welcome. Aidan the Aura Master 22:26, 14 April 2015 (EDT)

Do I really deserve it?

Over a year ago I [TVTrash] was banned from the forums because I didn't change my behavior within my original month long ban. I then realized I was an immature kid who whined because of someone else's opinion. I understand what I did was wrong and I am ready to move on. So with that being said, should I really be unbanned from the forums? R O Y 01:18, 19 April 2015 (EDT)

As was said in the last section complaining about forum bans, this is NOT the place to try and appeal forum bans. Ask the forum mods directly: don't post your personal problems on the wiki community hub. Walk away now, or you could get an official warning over it. - Walkazo 12:35, 19 April 2015 (EDT)

Mario Kart track pictures

I've noticed that a lot of Mario Kart courses that are retro courses, use their old, original pictures. For example: Royal Raceway. The picture used for Royal Raceway is from the N64 version, but the MK8 is much better looking! I was just wondering if I should change all of them. I'm totally willing to update all those pictures.

KingKamek

framless

The outdated pictures have to stay to show the original version. But the articles already have updated pictures in the gallery.

PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 4 May 2015, 0:40

I just thinking to do it because the new pictures look much better, and the old pictures can be in the gallery. Does anyone else have an opinion? __________________________________________

Jacob, I saw what you did on Royal Raceway. I like it! Wanna work together to do to all the courses like that?

I've started working on it! Baby Luigi, you wanna help too? We putting the new image under the old image: here's an example Royal Raceway.

KingKamek

Stop. The infoboxes look bad with two images: your Royal Raceway example wasn't terrible because the one image is very narrow, but for situations like this, the infoboxes are getting way too elongated, and what's done for the Mario Kart courses also needs to be done for the Mario Party minigames for consistency, and same with any other recurring venues (i.e. SSB stages could have this issue too). The choice is solely between the new images, like how we use updated art for characters, species and items, or the old images, like how the original versions of games overrule remakes for game, level and world pages (hence World 1-1 (Super Mario Bros.) uses the original SMB screenshots rather than graphically shinier SMAS or NSMB2 shots). I feel that tracks and minigames recurring in later games is more like games being remade (instead of all the levels getting remade, it's just a select few), and so the original versions should stay in the infoboxes. - Walkazo 15:35, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

Oh I see. I thought it would be better that way because when you look at the infobox, you would see the old version and the new version. I thought it would be more helpful to do that than scroll down to the gallery. I'm sorry. PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 17:47, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

I will tell you I am a nice guy. I will listen to whatever you say. So if you want me to stop adding the updated pictures, I will and promise myself not to do it again;) PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 17:58, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, it's a good idea in theory, but sadly, not in practice. Thanks for understanding! - Walkazo 23:25, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

Sorry Walkazo! Do you want us to fix the ones we changed?

Just so you know it's generally better to discuss edit warring problems on either the page in question's talk page or by contacting the other user directly, and/or if they get nasty about it, check Whosonline (i.e. at the top of Special:RecentChanges) and contact an admin who's online to help you, rather than coming here. - Walkazo 10:18, 5 May 2015 (EDT)

Help

Someone named Torey is saying bad stuff on my talk page. Someone please help! User talk:Jacob Lott PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 00:21, 5 May 2015 (EDT)

Sorry about that. The user's been blocked, and feel free to remove the flamey message he left you (usually, users can't remove others' comments, but you can if they are spam or personal attacks like in this case). But in the future, like I said in the above section, ask an admin directly if someone's trolling you, since this page is for discussing community matters, not fleeting vandalism. - Walkazo 10:18, 5 May 2015 (EDT)

How feasible would this be?

I noticed that on the Team Fortress 2 wiki, some pages have embedded 3D models that can be interacted with using the cursor, how possible would it be to do something like that on this wiki? Binarystep (talk) 10:38, 5 May 2015 (EDT)

Hmm I can't believe I missed this. Having such a feature would be beneficial though! I don't know how it can be implemented.... BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 01:36, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
Yeah, that would be nice if we could put 3D models into there, but I don't know the applications for that. Yet. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 01:44, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
I dunno how possible or necessary it is, tbh; it depends on what sorta extension's needed (if one's needed), which is Porplemontage's call anyway. - Walkazo 12:22, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

Mario Kart and Mario Party Infoboxes

I was wondering if I can put the "List of Mario Games by Date" in the Infoboxes for Mario Kart Courses or Mario Party Minigames. Sometimes I open up an article for a Mario Kart course or a Mario Party minigame not knowing how old it is. Can I start doing that or not? Heres an example of what I'm talking about: Mario Kart Stadium. If you see the year next to the game, it will be understandable of how old that level, course, or minigame is. Thank You so much! PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 17:10, 13 May 2015 (EDT)

While we don't put the dates in world/level articles, which are what racecourses/minigames(/microgames) are most similar to, I feel like it'd be a worth-while idea, at least for the racecourses since they do reappear in later games sometimes, whereas most mini/microgames are game-specific, like levels/worlds. (Of course, we do include dates for one-off character, species and items, but that's necessary for consistency with the recurring c/s/i subjects.) - Walkazo 17:56, 13 May 2015 (EDT)

I am trying to do so but other users keep undoing them. But thank you so much for your permission, Walkazo! PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 22:22, 14 May 2015 (EDT)

You can also try making a Proposal about it, which will let other users know about it and will hopefully get them behind the idea, and should it pass, it would give you something a bit more solid to direct reverters to than just me informally saying "yeah sure". - Walkazo 17:15, 15 May 2015 (EDT)

Subspecies

Seriously, good job to everyone who's pitching in with removing the subspecies, but since there are multiple editors, I'll ask this here; would it be possible to mark the edits as minor? Sure, something that's been on the wiki for years has been toppled, but there's a huge flood on the recent changes. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Well, we can do that if you really need it. Sorry for that, lol. XD Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:31, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
It's not extremely imperative or anything, but with all of these edits, the whole flood's rather cumbersome with no tags.

Main page layout issues

Hey, I'm using a 1280 x 1024 resolution, and the main page's layout seems to be weird. The Mario & Nintendo New and Did You Know columns are too scrunched, and the Did You Know section is sticking out from the bottom, leaving a giant blank space below the MarioWiki Newspaper section. I believe the Mario Awards poll is messing out the layout? If there is a better way to display it, please do so. Thanks! Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. Trivia Question

How do you guys decide what trivia (among other things) is note worthy for the page? I tried putting a few bits of trivia on pages myself, only to find them deleted because "it wasn't good enough." Also, where do you pull the information from? Does the staff follow stuff like Did You Know Gaming? or do you prefer full articles like something from IGN? (Alex95 (talk) 13:34, 7 July 2015 (EDT))

Adding Trivia is actually discouraged: it's better to try and incorporating info into the body text of the article. Common Trivia points that get removed are things like coincidences, opinions and speculation, or stuff that's already in the article somewhere. Information comes from all sorts of different sources, and having citations to back up random factoids is one way to help make them wore worthy of inclusion. - Walkazo 13:59, 7 July 2015 (EDT)

No, we can't. They change their IP dynamically and the only way to completely remove them is to remove IP editing rights altogether. A range block is only a temporary situation, but they'll just come back and continue spamming pages. Mario Kart DS & Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection turned 10 years old today!

Today's Saturday, November 14, 2015 and Mario Kart DS & Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection turned 10 years old today! However, I was thinking that maybe we should have MKDS or Nintendo WFC as a featured article or something along those lines. --Michael (talk) 00:26, 14 November 2015 (EST)

Meh, the former was already featured in this rotation of featured articles while the latter isn't good enough to be FA quality, so we're not going to feature them based on their anniversary, just as we don't feature Super Mario Bros. on its anniversary. But happy anniversary regardless BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 01:40, 14 November 2015 (EST)

'Shroom centering

Is there any reason why the 'Shroom is moved over to the right on the front page, creating empty space under "Did You Know?" I was going to make a proposal about this, but I first need to make sure there aren't any technical reasons for the formatting. --Andymii (talk) 21:51, 1 December 2015 (EST)

Ah, that would be NoScript at work. I didn't even notice that it should be there... - Reboot (talk) 22:18, 1 December 2015 (EST)

It depends on the computer. Everything looks fine on yours except the poll. PowerKamek's Signature(talk|contribs) 22:22, 1 December 2015 (EST)

The idea is that the FA, Poll and 'Shroom on the left balance out with the News and DYK on the right; there's always a bit of space beneath one or the other, but it's generally pretty okay. The problem right now is that there's a lot of options in the Poll, and a lot of them are spilling into second lines (on my 1024 px screen, anyway), making it longer than usual (unless you have it collapsed) and shoving the 'Shroom box below the other side, making the unevenness noticeable. Aiming for less complex polls in the future could help improve it. - Walkazo 22:24, 1 December 2015 (EST)

Sure, will do. --Andymii (talk) 22:27, 1 December 2015 (EST)

Ad placement

I'm not a fan of the ad placement in this wiki; the ad is placing inside main body of an article to the left of the content, so it creates a spacey, unsightly margin on the left side, so I'm tempted to leave adblock on (but even then, the margin remains) in case I do anonymous browsing. Is there a better place to put them? Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:03, 10 December 2015 (EST)

Question about Stubs

I know the point of them: They're meant to direct viewers and/or editors to help expand upon certain articles that need it. However, I've noticed that some articles don't need to be or can't be expanded upon. For example, one time appearances of items, characters, or locations... there isn't much to go of off. And what the games do give is pretty much already covered. I understand this wiki wants to provide the best coverage possible for Mario games, but sometimes, there just isn't anything to expand upon. Should we do some major checking on which stubby articles actually need expanding upon and which ones we just can't expand on? (Alex95 (talk) 23:25, 5 January 2016 (EST))

If the article already includes everything there is about a subject, then it shouldn't be tagged as a stub. Stubs are not short articles, they are articles lacking information. Not all short articles are stubs. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 23:37, 5 January 2016 (EST)
Yeah, articles that are small because there's minimal info available aren't stubs so long as they have all that info and are well-made. Those sorts of articles being tagged as stubs is a mistake, but rather than bringing it up here, the Wiki Collaboration board on the forums would be the best place to try and organize a sweep. - Walkazo 23:39, 5 January 2016 (EST)
Alright, I'll get on that then and see what I can do. (Alex95 (talk) 23:57, 5 January 2016 (EST))

New Page Foresight

Is there a way to tell, when creating a new page, how many pages link to it? That way we can tell how much needed the page is? (Alex95 (talk) 23:49, 6 February 2016 (EST))

You can enter red links into Special:WhatLinksHere and get lists. Special:WantedPages also has a list of pages with red links leading there, in descending order from most to least links. In both cases, it includes links on templates, which then show up as links from every page the template's on, thus inflating the numbers. - Walkazo 00:03, 7 February 2016 (EST)

Mushroom Arena

Why can't we have an arena (it doesn't have to be called Mushroom Arena) like the Donkey Kong Wiki and SmashWiki do? Davey (talk)

We already have the polls on the Main Page and the Anniversary awards (and The 'Shroom just did an Ultimate Character Tournament, too). Personally, I feel like it'll just be an unnecessary extra thing we'll need to maintain on top of the polls, FAs and actual wiki matters. - Walkazo 19:07, 29 February 2016 (EST)

statistics

Are there really 16,974 "articles" on this wiki? I think this includes disambiguation pages and the Main Page.

A gossip-loving Toad (talk) 04:46, 5 March 2016 (EST) (@Reboot: Hey, you're a Linux user too!)

Does it really matter? There's only 727 disambig pages, plus the one lone main page: really not that big of a difference from the number generated automatically via "NUMBEROFARTICLES". If it were counting redirects, sure, that'd be misleading, but the disambig pages being included as content isn't a problem. - Walkazo 15:45, 5 March 2016 (EST)

Announcement Line Mistake

Why does the the little line on the main page still say issue 107 of the 'Shroom is out when 108 has come through? I clicked on it and took a while to realize that I'd been sent to the wrong issue. Thanks. Warioad (talk) 14:21, 22 March 2016 (EDT)

About certain Special Pages

There are a few that seem kinda redundant or unneeded to me. The Special:LonelyPages seem to be mostly redirects. The Special:AncientPages list by last edit, not by creation date (which I think would be better). I'm just thinking there should be some "rethinking," if that makes sense. Probably not, but I don't know how to word that any other way. Maybe some renaming, at least? I don't know, this is just something that came to mind as I was trying to find something to do. Nintendo is planning to make movies, don't you know? :D Or you don't want to include it because of 2016's April Fools prank? Gold Luigi (talk) 13:05, 19 May 2016 (EDT)

Show Anonymous Users

Is there a way we can add a listing of how many anons are online in the Recent Changes? I don't mean listing each individual IP one-by-one (the list would be pretty big). Just something like "Anonymous Users Online: 12" or something. Probably positioned underneath the "Who's Online". Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:51, 29 August 2016 (EDT)

Redirects

It used to be that only real articles would show up in the Search Bar, but now Redirects, like Dark Fawful Bug and Hammer Slam Bowser, are appearing. What changed and is it a problem? Ultimate Mr. L (talk) 20:07, 11 September 2016 (EDT)

I don't see it tho. Even after refreshing this page. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 20:58, 11 September 2016 (EDT)
For redirects to appear, you need to use the exact same capitalization. Try searching for "SMG". If you use a different capitalization when searching they still work the same way, they just don't show in the search bar. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:01, 11 September 2016 (EDT)
Well I see it now, but only after I type out the full name in the search bar. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 21:11, 11 September 2016 (EDT)
If it was possible, would it be worth including redirects in the search bar exactly like regular articles? Since the redirects currently only appear once they've been fully typed out and match exactly what's written, I don't find them particularly useful. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:07, 12 September 2016 (EDT)
I don't think so. I've seen Wikis, such as Zelda Wiki, that include redirects in the search bar and it doesn't work so well because there's so many redirects and it just gets cluttered. I don't know, I don't like it, but it might just be me. File:Mr L Render.png Ultimate Mr. L (Talk) 14:06, 19 September 2016 (EDT)

Are Mario virtual console titles released only in Japan supposed to be covered in the "Mario and Nintendo News" section? If so, I have one to add.--Luigi 64DD.png (talk · edits) 16:19, 27 September 2016 (EDT)

They certainly are. Just be sure to note that it was released in Japan.

Talk page redirect

A few minutes ago, I was browsing the Mario Wiki and happened upon a page for Ike's side special move in Smash Bros. Brawl. When I clicked on Discussion on the top of the page, it redirected me to the talk page of Quick Draw Corks from Mario Party 2 instead. What's going on here? – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 00:48, 2 October 2016 (EDT)

The User moved it to correct the name, but didn't had the redirect page delete. It's been fix now. Alien Bunny Sprite.pngL151Onnanoko

The Poll is a bit Negative...

Can I change the second option to "I like the idea, I might buy it"? Currently there are three negative answers, one positive, and one neutral. There should be two positive and two negative so users aren't pressed to either strongly support or mildly oppose the Mini NES. For example, I'm among the "might buy it" group but I don't want to select "I love it, so I'll buy it", and I don't want to select "I'm not going to buy it". Basically, I'm not sure, but I lean more towards buying it than not, but there isn't an option to properly represent that sentiment and I think there are many other users who feel similarly. BNK [E|T|C] 10:47, 12 October 2016 (EDT)

I say that if anything should happen, the option to say that you will most likely buy it, but have no idea should be separated from the other two options. I like the idea of the Mini NES, but I don't have any actual plans to buy it. Also, the second option isn't negative at all. Help on something!

I am trying to add a randomized Tips section on my userpage. The premise is basically once the user enters the page again or refreshes it, a series of text that contains the code below is chosen from a series of several.

:::choose
<option>[insert text here]</option>
</choose>

How do I get it to work on my userpage? I have tried to add it and use the "Preview" button to make sure everything is working, but it isn't. Omega Tyrant's SmashWiki userpage has this revision that offers randomized "Pro Tips" which were for competitive Smash stuff. I'm trying to do tips on Mario-related games, not just Smash Bros. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 00:50, 28 October 2016 (EDT)

I don't think the <option> tag is installed for this wiki, because it doesn't translate to anything (i.e. the code appears even if the page is saved). But it's still possible to display a message which changes every time the page is refreshed, using another type of code. The admins have previously used the following for the wiki's sitenotice, when we wanted to display two different rotating notices:
{{#switch:{{#expr:{{#time:U}} mod 2}}|0=First notice.|1=Second notice.}}
You could try adding more notices to this coding structure, which should still serve your desired purpose. I hope this helps.
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 11:10, 28 October 2016 (EDT)
Thanks for the code! By the way, where do I insert the text? – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 20:20, 28 October 2016 (EDT)

The text for the different tips? Just replace the "first/second" notice parts in the example code. For example, if you were to have five different tips on your userpage which were rotating, use this:

{{#switch:{{#expr:{{#time:U}} mod 5}}
|0=a pro tip
|1=another pro tip
|2=another pro tip again
|3=the best pro tip
|4=the pro tip of all pro tips
}}

If you wanted to add more, just keep adding more numbers, like |5=, |6= etc. Also, make sure that the mod number matches how many different tips you have inserted.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 07:51, 30 October 2016 (EDT)

It's working! Looks like the code is programmed to randomize the tips after a certain amount of time. It works like I thought it would. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 19:09, 30 October 2016 (EDT)

Broken file link

In the Search bar, I tried to search for Iggy's Castle in Super Mario World by typing #1 Iggy's Castle in the Search box and it brought me back to the main page. That's suspicious. What is causing that to happen? – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 13:06, 29 November 2016 (EST)

The hashtag in wiki coding means a section of the article, so typing that into the search bar on the main page will bring you to Template:Fakelink, which doesn't exist. Iggy's Castle is the proper page, with the title of the article set to display the #1 as part of the name. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:10, 29 November 2016 (EST)
