Is "Kreepy Krow" a legitimate name for this?[edit]

While it is the name of the level, the game itself (ie the credits leaving it out and Wrinkly's hint calling it "the ghost of Krow") does not seem to consider it the name of the boss itself, but rather simply "Krow," with the "kreepy" just being a description of his current state. We may want to consider merging to Krow. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:09, April 17, 2022 (EDT)

The SNES version Player's Guide seems to agree, but the GBA version does add "Kreepy Krow" to the cast roll. LinkTheLefty (talk) 05:12, April 17, 2022 (EDT)
Which isn't to say that "Kreepy Krow" wasn't in use for this version of Krow before the GBA version; Nintendo Power coverage of Donkey Kong Country 2 (Volume 79, page 26) and Donkey Kong Land 2 (Volume 88, page 85), as well as at least Australian Nintendo Magazine System coverage of Donkey Kong Land 2 (Issue #49, page 53), all refer to him as such. Merge back to Krow[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

Do not merge 4-7
This proposal concerns the nature of Krow and his undead alter-ego, Kreepy Krow. Initially, these two shared a page until a proposal to split them in 2010 passed unanimously. Now, it's not unusual for alter-egos to be separate articles. Two examples are Mario and Dr. Mario and Bluster Kong and Leo Luster. With the former, Mario has made many appearances for his doctor persona to be notable, and Bluster Kong has a couple of appearances in his show for Leo Luster to be a unique page. In some instances, we also have enough information on the regular subject. For example, Cackletta has much information about her usual self, and we can still talk about Bowletta separately. Furthermore, it's also a form of Bowser, who has tons of information on himself. We can say similar things about the Elder Princess Shroob and Shrowser.

In the case of the Krows, they only appeared in two (three if you count the remake) games with barely notable character traits other than being a pirate Mini-Necky. The differences between alive and dead variants are not complex other than one's alive and the other's dead. It's not that much different from the black variation of King Kaliente or the pink Hisstocrat. While they are separate, it doesn't change that we discuss similar things when describing both Krows. The original proposal brought up Fawful and Dark Fawful, which are less comparable. Fawful already appeared in Superstar Saga, and Dark Fawful debuted in Bowser's Inside Story. There's a lot of information as Fawful as a character and you can create enough information on the unique forms he has.

Meanwhile, Krow has yet to reappear in any new games, and we arbitrarily split information. Once people read about Krow's death, they'll probably click on Kreepy Krow to read about his boss fight and then have to go back and read Krow's article again. If both were to be one article, I doubt people would get lost in finding the information they are looking for since it's straightforward to see in that case, if not more accessible. This isn't like merging Dry Bowser with Bowser because regular Bowser has made more appearances than Dry Bowser who is even implied to be a different character in some instances. If they are looking for the boss fight, they already have their pages for this (Krow's Nest and Kreepy Krow). Long story short, let's merge the deceased with the undead.

Support[edit]

  1. TheUndescribableGhost (talk) Per proposal
  2. Super Mario RPG (talk) Per proposer. This could help fix the awkward identifier that these two boss levels have: Kreepy Krow (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest level) and Kreepy Krow (Donkey Kong Land 2 level).
  3. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - The only time the games listed Kreepy separately was the GBA credits. This is especially awkward for Donkey Kong Land, where due to the monochrome full-alpha graphics, there is literally no distinction other than one fight being harder. Also, most sources just call this "Krow" anyway, with the "Kreepy" being just the name of the stage (and none of the other boss stages in the series are just the boss's name)
  4. LinkTheLefty (talk) I mean, if we don't have the Mini-Necky ghosts split, then...

Oppose[edit]

  1. Mario (talk) I'm not really supporting a merge. They're two different boss fights with different appearances and they have their own name (from the cast roll of one game) (unlike Kaliente and Hisstocrat). In the proposed merger, I'm having difficulty finding information pertaining to JUST the fight. I don't think this'll help with discoverability either. I think readers searching for Kreepy Krow expect a full article on the thing, not tucked inside Krow's article.
  2. MegaBowser64 (talk) Per Mario, Kreepy Krow is way to kreepy to share an article with anybody else
  3. Waluigi Time (talk) Per Mario (wahoo)
  4. FanOfYoshi (talk) Per all.
  5. ThePowerPlayer (talk) Per all.
  6. Archivist Toadette (talk) Per all.
  7. Tails777 (talk) Per Mario.

Comments[edit]

It's been a while since I dabbled in Donkey Kong Land content, but come to think of it, aren't the Land 2 boss fights identical to Country 2 (I recall Land III having a fair amount of differences like the first one)? Maybe this is for another time, but perhaps the boss levels could be merged. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:09, January 27, 2024 (EST)

I did a proposal that concerned all of the levels in general, but that one did not pass, so if we're doing one concerning boss levels, it could be a while before that. Super Mario RPG (talk) 16:41, January 27, 2024 (EST)

@Mario "I'm having difficulty finding information pertaining to JUST the fight." It's in the first paragraph which usually have six sentences to count as one. I guess I could split them to make it easier to find the bosses. TheUndescribableGhost (talk) 11:27, January 28, 2024 (EST)

Perhaps but I lean to, again, discoverability. We don't merge Behemoth and Behemoth King despite the two being mostly the same boss fight and being largely confined to one game. But Behemoth and Behemoth King are obstentibly different enemies, while Kreepy Krow is a form of an existing boss, so I don't think the comparison works. A better comparison would be the Czar Dragon and Zombone, who are split despite being forms of the same enemy, and heck, even despite being fought in the same boss battle.
