Egg Block sprites not in-game: purple and light blue[edit]

I think they are 2 of them that are not in game...

here, as you can see, there are a purple one and a light blue one that didn't appear in game.

Should we reupload the file? --83.156.220.80 12:09, 29 June 2018 (EDT)

I'll ask the uploader where the file came from. This may be unused content, but I'm not sure. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:42, 29 June 2018 (EDT)
I have the lib that contains ripped Yoshi's Island sprites. Here's a link to it, and you need Multimedia Fusion 2 to open it. While opened with MMF 2, I found the Egg Block graphics in there, including the ones unused and in that thumbnail. So they're definitely official. Given how graphics work, those are more than likely just ripped via cycling through palettes artificially, and collecting ones that work visually. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:34, 29 June 2018 (EDT)
So, in a sense, I guess they're actually sorta unofficial...? I guess we could delete the ones that we simply don't see in-game. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 15:36, 29 June 2018 (EDT)
I sent a message to the guy who uploaded the image, though he hasn't been active in a month. I'm waiting to see what he says. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:37, 29 June 2018 (EDT)
And it's highly probable he found them on a sprite-collecting site. The practice I mentioned was fairly common on those back in the day, though now it's typically reserved for objects that cycle rapidly through palettes or can be artificially spawned in areas that use alternate palettes in the same hardware space. Sorry for my late answer. Should we put the purple and light blue spotted blocks to this list of unused content of the latter game? --83.156.220.80 02:05, 3 July 2018 (EDT)
Well, they're no more unused than a Hammer Bro in SMB1 with a red palette. It's a palette that works visually and is used on other graphics that use the same palette bank, but isn't a separate coded object. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:09, 3 July 2018 (EDT)
I'd thought perhaps they were the "flashing" ones, but those only use the four standard Shy Guy colors. Suffice it to say, these are not legitimate. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:22, November 25, 2022 (EST)
