Spiky Joe, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Spiky Joe is a Red Spike Top that appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He is a major-league fighter in the Glitz Pit.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Spiky Joe is in the major league locker room, allowing Mario and his partner to talk to him. His team is called the Tiny Spinies; they are the first enemies that Mario faces in the major league. Spiky Joe is one of the few nice major-league members despite losing to "The Great Gonzales"; he does not hate him, and merely swears to train more and get better one day (the only other member being Hamma Jamma).

Log The sturdiest of all the Buzzy Beetles, a Red Spike Top is impervious to fire and explosions. Plus, the spike on its back protects it from being flipped over.
Tattle That's a Red Spike Top. It's the most well protected of the Buzzy Beetle species. Max HP is 5, Attack is 3, and Defense is a whopping 4. Yup… This guy is HARD! It has really high Defense, and fire and explosions don't hurt it at all. If we can just find a way to flip it over, its underside has Defense of 0… And that spike… What a pain! There's gotta be a way to flip it over…

  • "That guy's Spiky Joe. He's a major-leaguer, so we'll see him in the ring. He's super-proud of his hard shell and the pointy spike on top of it. Whatever."
