Pulsar

Pulsars are small, strange, red-eyed creatures covered in spiked armor who inhabit Star Hill in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Pulsars have extremely high defense and powerful electric attacks such as Static E! and Bolt. Pulsars are very dangerous, as they will instantly perform the kamikaze Migraine attack as soon as they are attacked by one of Mario's party members. Moreover, since a Pulsar has such a high defense rating, it is very unlikely they will be destroyed by the hero's initial attack. After being hit, the Pulsar will rise in the sky and self-destruct in a fiery explosion, instantly downing a party member unless they deflect the attack. Indeed, the hint-giving man hiding behind a house in Mushroom Kingdom warns Mario before leaving for Star Hill to avoid attacking these "pointy monsters" because of this powerful ability.

Due to their almost identical appearance, Pulsars are said to be related to Clusters.

Trivia

• Pulsars share their name with radiation-releasing neutron stars found in distant solar systems and nebulae. Pulsar even states itself to be "a mini-pulsar" in its Psychopath thought, indicating that Pulsars may actually be smaller versions of these real life pulsars.
