Proto Piranha
Polluted Piranha Plants are Piranha Plants covered in Graffiti created by Shadow Mario. They have appeared in Super Mario Sunshine and the GameCube version of Mario Power Tennis and Mario Golf: Advance Tour, as enemies. They appear out of Goop Generators and come in a variety of different colors. They do not seem to have any teeth, unlike normal Piranha Plants. They periodically release Swoopin' Stus. To defeat them, Mario must shoot water into their mouth repeatedly. During the first two encounters, Mario can defeat the plants by squirting water in their mouth three times. However, during the last two encounters, Mario must squirt water into their mouth six times to defeat them. Once defeated, they dissolve into Goop, which soon disappears.
In Mario Power Tennis, Petey Piranha's Defensive Power Shot (a.k.a. Piranha Swingback) involves him creating a Polluted Piranha Plant to hit an unreachable tennis ball for him.
In Mario Golf: Advance Tour, they have appearances in the Mushroom Tourney course with many Piranha Plants. They have located outside of course.

Trivia
- Although the generators that the Polluted Piranha Plants come out of are made of Goop, Mario cannot wash them away like normal Goop without defeating the Polluted Piranha Plant first.
- The behavior of these enemies varies depending on the color of the Goop that they come out of: Polluted Piranha Plants that emerge from pink, yellow, orange, and white Goop cannot spawn Swoopin' Stus and must be sprayed three times, those that come out of brown and white Goop can spawn Swoopin' Stus and must be sprayed three times, and those that come out of black Goop are able to spawn Swoopin' Stus and have to be sprayed six times.
