List of power-ups

Template:Articleabout Power-ups give special abilities upon using them. Most of the effects make fighting and/or exploration easier. Below is a list of the different power-ups found in their respective debut games.

Super Mario Bros.

File:SMB Supermushroom.svg Super Mushroom Turns Small Mario into Super Mario, allowing him to withstand damage, break Brick Blocks, and find other power-ups.
File:SMBFireFlower.gif Fire Flower Transforms Mario into Fire Mario, letting him throw fireballs.

Super Mario Bros. 3

File:SuperLeaf SMB3.png Super Leaf Turns Mario into Raccoon Mario, letting him fly, glide, and tail whip.
The Frog Suit. Frog Suit Turns Mario into Frog Mario, allowing him to swim faster in any direction and jump higher.
The Tanooki Suit. Tanooki Suit Turns Mario into Tanooki Mario, which gives him the same abilities as the Super Leaf, but also lets him briefly turn into a statue.
The Hammer Suit. Hammer Suit Turns Mario into Hammer Mario, letting him throw powerful hammers and block enemies' fireballs by crouching.
P-Wing P-Wing Similar to the Super Leaf, but allows Mario or Luigi to fly indefinitely for one level. Taking damage, grabbing a non-flight-based power-up, or finishing the level ends the P-Wing's effect.
File:Kuribo Shoe.png Goomba's Shoe Lets Mario hop across spikes and sharp-toothed or spiky enemies, such as Munchers and Spinies, when ridden. Taking damage or clearing the level removes the Goomba's Shoe.

Super Mario Land

File:SuperFlowerPower-Up.png Super Flower Turns Mario into Superball Mario, letting him toss superballs. These bounce at 45 degree angles and can collect coins.

Super Mario World

File:Feather.PNG Cape Feather Turns Mario into Caped Mario, letting him fly, glide, ground smash, and cape spin foes (similar to the Super Leaf).
File:P-Balloon SMW.PNG Power Balloon Temporarily inflates Mario, allowing him to float.
Yoshi's Wings Yoshi's Wings Turns Yoshi into Winged Yoshi, granting infinite flight and access to Coin Heaven.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

Super Mario 64

File:SM64 VanishCap.JPG Vanish Cap Turns Mario into Vanish Mario, making him temporarily intangible, allowing him to walk through enemies, chain link fences and walk into mirrors.
File:MetalCap.jpg Metal Cap Turns Mario into Metal Mario, making him briefly invulnerable and heavy. He also doesn't need to breathe, which lets him resist toxic fumes and walk underwater.

Super Mario 64 DS

Mix Flower Mix Flower Allows all the Bros. to throw fireballs to form a giant one.

New Super Mario Bros.

Super Paper Mario

File:MegaStar SPM.png Mega Star Temporarily makes Mario giant and 8-bit (same as the Mega Mushroom).
File:SpeedFlower SPM.png Speed Flower Temporarily speeds up time; triples value of coins and points.
File:SlowFlower SPM.png Slow Flower Temporarily slows down time; triples value of coins and points.

Super Mario Galaxy

Bee Suit Bee Mushroom Turns Mario into Bee Mario, allowing him to fly for a short time, walk on clouds and flowers, and stick to honeycombs.
File:SMG BooSuit.jpg Boo Mushroom Turns Mario into Boo Mario, allowing him to go through fences and read Booish.
Spring Mushroom Spring Mushroom Turns Mario into Spring Mario, letting him jump higher.
A Flying Star from Super Mario Galaxy. Red Star Turns Mario into Flying Mario, letting him fly freely by spinning.
Rainbow Star Rainbow Star Turns Mario into Rainbow Mario, making him briefly invincible (same as a Super Star: in the Super Mario Galaxy series, this is used instead in order to avoid confusion between a Super Star and a Power Star.)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

A Penguin Suit Penguin Suit Turns Mario into Penguin Mario, letting him slide on his belly, throw iceballs, and swim more freely (similar to the Blue Shell, Ice Flower, and Frog Suit). He also has webbed feet, so he doesn't slide when he's on ice.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

SMG2 Cloudflower.png Cloud Flower Transforms Mario into Cloud Mario, enabling him to create up to 3 cloud platforms (which are replenished by another Cloud Flower), make floaty jumps, and walk on clouds.
File:SMG2 RockMushroom.JPG Rock Mushroom Turns Mario into Rock Mario, who can destroy enemies and objects by rolling into them.
File:Transform nav dash active.png Dash Pepper Turns Yoshi into Dash Yoshi, temporarily causing him to dash at very high speeds.
File:Transform nav balloon active.png Blimp Fruit Turns Yoshi into Blimp Yoshi, temporarily causing him to puff up and float.
File:Transform nav light active.png Bulb Berry Turns Yoshi into Bulb Yoshi, temporarily allowing him to reveal and stand on platforms that otherwise would not be there.

Super Mario 3D Land

File:BoomerangFlower-SM3DL (transparency).png Boomerang Flower Transforms Mario into Boomerang Mario, enabling him to throw a boomerang at enemies. The boomerang can also collect coins and activate Checkpoint Flags.
Statueleaf.png Statue Leaf Lets Mario glide, turn into Statue Mario, and tail whip (similar to the Tanooki Suit).
Artwork of an Invincibility Leaf from New Super Mario Bros. 2 Invincibility Leaf Transforms Mario into White Tanooki Mario, which grants him all the powers of the Super Leaf, as well as unlimited invincibility.
Artwork of a Propeller Box from Super Mario 3D Land Propeller Box Allows Mario to whirl up and slowly descend, similar to the Propeller Mushroom. Taking damage or clearing the level removes the box, rewarding an extra life in the latter case.
Artwork of a ? Box from Super Mario 3D World Coin Box Grants Mario infinite coins when worn. Taking damage or clearing the level removes the box, rewarding an extra life in the latter case.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

Gold Flower artwork for New Super Mario Bros. 2 Gold Flower Turns Mario into Gold Mario, letting him launch golden fireballs, which explode with a small blast radius. Any enemies hit will give coins, depending on the number of enemies hit. These fireballs can also hit ? Blocks and turn Brick Blocks into coins. Taking damage, grabbing an Invincibility Leaf or Mega Mushroom, or clearing the level ends the Gold Flower's effect.
Artwork of a Gold Block from New Super Mario Bros. 2 Gold Block Similar to the Coin Box, but grants Mario up to 100 coins when worn. Taking damage or clearing the level removes the box, rewarding coins in the latter case. Hitting a Gold Block from either side, above, or while wearing one causes 50 coins to spout out instead.

New Super Mario Bros. U

File:P-acornitem.png P-Acorn Turns Mario into Power Squirrel Mario, which grants him all the powers of the Super Acorn, but also lets him make midair jumps indefinitely for one level. Taking damage, grabbing a non-flight-based power-up, or clearing the level ends the P-Acorn's effect.
File:Purplestar.png Boost Star Temporarily makes it possible to defeat enemies or break blocks by tapping them on the GamePad.

Super Mario 3D World

Super Bell Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png Super Bell Turns Mario into Cat Mario, allowing him to climb up walls and poles, run faster and slash enemies with his claws.
Artwork of a Double Cherry, from Super Mario 3D World. Double Cherry Turns Mario into Double Mario. There can be up to 5 clones of each player on screen.
File:Luckybell SM3DW.png Lucky Bell Turns Mario into Lucky Cat Mario, which grants him all the powers of the Super Bell, and also lets him turn into Golden Statue Mario with a Ground Pound. Golden Statue Mario earns coins while falling, and is invincible.
File:Kuribon Shoe Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png Ice Skate When the player is in an Ice Skate, they can skate on the ice, move quicker, and are also immune to certain enemies and spikes. However, they will not be able to stop moving, and if the player hits a wall or a Walleye, they will lose the item.
Artwork from Super Mario 3D World. Goomba Mask Disguises the player as a Goomba, allowing one to sneak by certain enemies.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Pickaxe CTTT.png Super Pickax Temporarily allows the player to defeat any enemy and break Brick Blocks.
Invincibility Mushroom Invincibility Mushroom Makes the player invincible for the entirety of a level, similar to the Invincibility Leaf.

Super Mario Maker

Template:Conjecturaltext A Buzzy Beetle that has retreated into its shell, which can be worn by Mario to protect him from attacks from above.
File:High heel.png High-heel Goomba's Shoe A high-heel variant of the Goomba's Shoe.
File:48px-MM Luigimushroom.svg.png Luigi Mushroom Makes Mario skinnier, and gives him Luigi's physics, including jumping higher, but with worse traction.
Template:Conjecturaltext A Spiny that has retreated into its shell, which can be worn by Mario to defeat enemies that fall on him.
The Mystery Mushroom, in Super Mario Maker. Mystery Mushroom By tapping an amiibo onto the Wii U GamePad in the Super Mario Bros. graphical style, it turns Mario into Costume Mario, giving him that character's appearance.
Big Mushroom Turns Mario into a giant version of his standard self, though this can only be used in the Super Mario Bros. graphical style.
