Audio

Ice music on fiery planet

On the starting planet in Shiverburn Galaxy, in cloud form, the player must hit the switch that freezes the planet and return to where they started. They should then Long Jump towards the Magma Slice Planet. Then, they should make a cloud and Long Jump, repeating two more times. They will be pulled by the planet's gravity and land on it, though the starting planet music will still be playing.[1]

During the credits, when the player is on the teeter-totter moon, if the player Ground Pounds the left side of moon and performs a backward somersault while it rises, they will fall off the moon, followed by a Bubble surrounding them. They will be stuck in the bubble falling endlessly for several credit scenes as it attempts to return the player onto the moon, with the planets visited off-screen. Eventually, they will reach solid ground, but the graphics will broken in various ways. For example, the platform in the Yoshi Star Galaxy may become invisible; the scene with the defeated Bowser may only consist of a desert background, and the camera may point the wrong direction.[2]

Disappearing characters in first-person

If the player stands close to certain characters and enters first-person view, the character will disappear, with only its shadow present. This is most notable with Supermassive Galaxy's Giant Lumas and Cosmic Cove Galaxy's penguins.[2]

Disappearing Piranha Plant

To perform this glitch, the player should go to Supermassive Galaxy. They should trigger the Checkpoint Flag and die. When the player respawns, they should wall-jump up the gap between the Thwomps, face the camera, then Long Jump off the edge of the one on the right, allowing them to return to the start. After, the player should progress through the level normally. When they reach the second Piranha Plant, the plant can be spun to release water and damage the player, but cannot be seen. Shortly after, dirt will spawn continuously, lagging the game.[2][3]

Disappearing platforms

The glitch in action

On the Ice Magma Skate Planet, if the player enters first-person view and look directly at the meteors, the meteors will be frozen until the player exits first-person view or looks away.[2]

Low-resolution planet glitch

An incorrect lava texture displayed in the Chompworks Galaxy due to a glitch.
The glitch in action

On the Lava Chomp Planet in Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold, if the player turns their character to face them and then Long Jumps to fall off the planet, right before they fall off, the planet will be low-resolution, as if the player was far away from it.[2]

Persistent starlight glitch

In Twin Falls Hideaway, if the player releases the Power Star from the crystal, then jumps down and enters first-person view, the starlight will still be located on the star's original location.

Post-death falling glitch

If the player lands on lava with one wedge of health while jumping and falls into an abyss, their character will not be silhouetted as they normally would.

Reach the Starshrooms

At the split in Rolling Coaster Galaxy, if the player jumps towards the blue Starshroom, they can fall through the Starshroom and out of bounds, as the Starshroom has no gravity. The player can also reach the green Starshroom if they stand on the fence at the beginning and Long Jump towards the Starshroom, though this one has gravity. [4]

Rosalina angle glitch

Normally, on Starship Mario, as Mario is shorter than Rosalina, if he talks to her, she will look downwards while talking to him. However, as Cloud Mario, if he spins a cloud while standing next to her, crouches, and talks to her, despite being above her, she will still look downwards. This can also be performed with the Mailtoad or Banktoad, though they will instead be invisible.

Smeech with Star

Mario, Yoshi, and a Smeech getting a star in the Sweet Mystery Galaxy due to a glitch.
The glitch in action

If the player collects a Power Star with a Smeech on Yoshi, their character and Yoshi will perform the same animation, but the Smeech will remain stuck to Yoshi.[2][5][6]

Squizzard's floating ball glitch

Occasionally, during the Squizzard battle, if the player Long Jumps left or right when a fireball hits Squizzard when his mouth closed and is about to toss a spike ball, the ball will float in front of his hands briefly.

Void glitch

A glitch from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
The void

On the pier in Melty Monster Galaxy, if the player enters the Warp Pipe leading to The Chimp's Bowling Challenge and returns, part of the background for the challenge can be seen.[2][7]

Yoshi's long tongue glitch

A glitch from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
The glitch in action

On Starship Mario, while riding Yoshi, if the player steps near a Warp Pad to the Starshroom and presses B Button quickly, Yoshi's tongue will be stuck on the Warp Pad until the player presses B Button again or jumps off him.[2][8][9] This can also occur when entering or exiting the engine room, where his tongue will briefly be long.[2]

Yoshi's puffed cheeks glitch

The glitch in action

In Yoshi Star Galaxy, if the player activates the Launch Star right as Yoshi eats the golden fruit, Yoshi's cheeks will remain puffed until the player lands. [2]

Yoshi's quick legs glitch

On Starship Mario, if the player runs towards the fence, Yoshi's legs will move rapidly.

Physics

NOTE: These glitches result from how Mario and/or other characters and objects interact with the world.

Bee in wall glitch

Bee Luigi stuck in a wall in the Honeyhop Galaxy due to a glitch.
The glitch in action

In the area in Honeyhop Galaxy where falling bubbles first appear, in bee form, the player must start from the top of the left wall and then jump off, pressing A Button in short rounds to fly to the Bee Mushroom, which clips them through the wall. Alternatively, the player can jump left off the platform to the right of a nearby Choppah, then fly towards the screen and back to the wall.

Depending on the method, they may be pulled out of the wall or remain stuck. If the player is stuck, they may be able to exit by spinning, though if a Ground Pound or Homing Attack is performed, they will likely remain stuck until the level is restarted. They may also be pushed upward through the wall while inside, being unable to do anything but spin.

Behind Goomba statue glitch

On the White Out Planet, if the player Ground Pounds the back of the Goomba statue near the Li'l Brr, their character will slide behind the statue, followed by vibrating rapidly. The player is trapped and must exit the level to escape.[2][9]

Boo in wall glitch

The glitch in action

In the Howling Tower, in Boo form, if the player turns themselves transparent, enters a wall, and remains inside until they become opaque again, they will remain inside the wall.

On Bugaboom's Planet, if the player uses the clouds from the Cloud Flower to Long Jump back to the previous planet, there will be no gravity.

Red-Blue Panel jump glitch

Mario flying in the Flip-Swap Galaxy due to a glitch
The glitch being performed

If the player runs towards the empty space a Red-Blue Panel flips to when spinning, spins before reaching the space, falls onto the panel as it rises, and Long Jumps before the panel stops, their character will be launched high in the air.[2][10] This can also happen in cloud form if they jump immediately after forming a cloud.[2]

Fly around Cyclone Stone

Luigi flying around the Stone Cyclone due to a glitch
The glitch in action

Near the first Green Star in Stone Cyclone Galaxy, if the player waits for the Tox Box to pass, backflips at the right time, lands on the Tox Box when it is flat, then jumps as it begins to turn, they will be launched into the air and circle the planet several times.[11]

Far flying glitch

In Return of the Whomp King, on the Whomp King, if the player jumps as he stands back up, he fling the player far away from the battlefield, causing them to lose a life. This also occurs with regular Whomps.[12] This glitch was discovered when a fan jumped at the wrong time when performing the midair crush glitch.

High backflip glitch

On the Whomp King's head, if player performs a backwards somersault as he is about to fall, the player should end up doing a very high backflip. This also occurs with a Thwomp moving upward.

Inside Digga-Leg Planet

Occasionally, when using the Spin Drill on Digga-Leg Planet, the player can clip through the planet. The cause is unknown.

Invisible platform glitch

Near the small fence in Throwback Galaxy, if the player jumps at the right time, they will land on a small platform with nearly no room, virtually standing in midair. If the player runs towards the main planet, they will clip through the fence and be back on the planet.[2]

Long Jumping off water

While in water, if the player presses Nunchuk Z Button and then A Button with a shake of the Wii Remote between presses, they will be able to perform a Long Jump in water.[2][13]

Stuck Crabber glitch

A glitched Crabber
The glitch in action

In Surf, Sand, and Silver Stars, if the player spins a Crabber into deep water, the Crabber will dig back to the surface, but only half of it will appear. It is frozen, and the player cannot interact with it. After a couple of seconds, the Crabber will come back up, though a couple seconds after, it will be standing in midair. When it spots the player, it will fall back to the ground.[2][14]

Off the edge glitch

On Starship Mario, on the wall with the entrance to the engine room, Luigi must crouch down, walk at the edge, stand up, and slide. He will then be off the platform's edge, unable to spin or ground pound, along with his model frozen.

Out of bounds gravity glitch

In the area with gravity chambers in Sailing the Sandy Seas, the player should wall jump to the platform, fall down, and enter the green pipe. When they exit, they should go right, fall, enter, and then exit the spinning cube's gravity without touching it. Then, the player must enter the pipe again. When they exit, they will fall through all walls and out of bounds, falling for approximately thirty seconds before losing a life.[15]

Tower clipping

On top of the tower with the Whomp in Throwback Galaxy, if the player stands at the edge where the Whomp will land and jumps before being crushed, the player will be pushed to the other side of the planet with the Whomp King.[2][16]

Lava skating

Sliding between platforms

Mario stuck sliding in a crack due to a glitch in the Chompworks Galaxy
The glitch in action

At the start of Chompworks Galaxy, if the player stands on the column in the bottom-right corner of the ramp and walks towards the ramp, their character will continuously slide between the two platforms.[9][17]

Stuck in nose glitch

If the player walks on Starship Mario's nose a certain way, then lands on the ground next to it, they will be stuck in between the nose and ground, though they can escape by jumping.[2]

Upside-down Yoshi glitch

Yoshi stuck in the doorway due to a glitch
The glitch in action

On Starship Mario, if the player dismounts Yoshi in the door to the engine room and pushes him into it, he will flip upside-down and in midair.[18]. This also occurs if they dismount Yoshi as their character enters the door.[9]

Wrong gravity glitch

Luigi sleeping on a wall in Upside Dizzy Galaxy

In Rightside Down Galaxy, the player can skip the first switch by Long Jumping to the upside-down question block, then Long Jump onto the Banandelion on the ceiling. They will slide up the Banandelion and land on the ceiling, despite gravity being pointed downwards. Walking too far to the right will correct the gravity. It is also possible to walk on the wall at a red region in Upside Dizzy Galaxy, though the method to perform this glitch is unknown.

Yoshi jump glitch

Near the end of the Giant Ramp Planet, if the player jumps right before reaching the edge of the Launch Star's platform, Yoshi will jump very high as if he was Dash Yoshi. When performed with a Dash Pepper, the player can reach Penguru without needing another Dash Pepper. This can also be performed with the second Dash Pepper, though they will end up much higher, and if the player continues holding forward on the Nunchuk Control Stick, they will fall and lose a life.

Yoshi stuck in tree glitch

Yoshi stuck in a tree due to a glitch
Yoshi in a tree

On Starship Mario, there is a tree on the left side of the deck door to Luigi. On the upper part of the deck, if the player Flutter Jumps to the top of the tree, Yoshi will get stuck in the tree, though he will return to normal when he returns to his egg.[2][19] If perform slightly differently, his eyes will be closed when performing a Flutter Jump, but will remain idle. If he returns to his egg or the player jumps on him, his eyes will be open again.

Yoshi underground

Yoshi pushed underground due to a glitch in the Starshine Beach Galaxy

Yoshi underground while walking into the water

In a large body of water in Starshine Beach Galaxy, if the player goes to the shallow part where he can still stand and jumps off Yoshi, when he returns to his egg, he will briefly go underground before rising to the surface. A similar glitch also occurs if the player slowly walks to deep water with Yoshi, where the player falls into the ground temporarily, due to the game attempting to bring the player fully underwater too early.

Yoshi underwater glitch

Yoshi walking underwater due to a glitch in the Starshine Beach Galaxy
The glitch in action

In Starshine Beach Galaxy, if the player dismounts Yoshi near a body of water and pushes him into it before mounting him again, he will be able to walk underwater, even after leaving the water and re-entering it, though if the player falls off an edge, the glitch ends.[2]

Zero-gravity Whomp King

The Whomp King off the cliff to a glitch in the Throwback Galaxy
The glitch in action

In Return of the Whomp King, If player leads the Whomp King to the edge of the platform until his feet are almost off the edge and then hangs off the edge between his feet, when he slams down, he will land in midair, though he will still make the sound of slamming the ground. Despite being in midair, he will not fall down, unlike normal enemies.[2]

Scripting

NOTE: These glitches abuse interactions that cause objects or displayed information to perform unintended behaviors.

Automatic door glitch

In Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla, if the player backflips to the top of the castle, when they jump back down, the door on the starting planet will open without them hitting the switch.

Coin resurrection

In the second phase of the final battle, the player has to let Bowser damage their character until they are on their last health point. At this point, there should be a Coin from the recently destroyed meteorite on the current one they are standing on. The player should allow Bowser to take away the final health point, where their character will fall back and be pulled by the next meteorite's gravitational field, where they will slam onto the ground, lying on their chest, about to start the defeat animation, though if a Coin lands on them, they will stand up, allowing the player to continue the fight.

Cosmic Clone camera glitch

The camera pointing at the ground due to a glitch in the Spin-Dig Galaxy
The glitch in action

At the start of Silver Stars Down Deep, if the player jumps to the Crystal and Spins it right as the Cosmic Clones appear, when the camera attempts to show the clones, it will instead turn to the other side of the planet. Due to the player's character being frozen and most controls being disabled at this time, the player is unable to do anything, forcing them to restart the game.

Cosmic Clone spawn glitch

On the Cosmic Platforms Planet in The Shadow Lining, if the player gets close to a Star Chip and grabs it, they will get the chip, but the Cosmic Clones will not appear.[2]

Credits freeze

During the credits, if the player continuously mounts and dismounts Yoshi, the screen will briefly freeze.

Delayed transformation glitch

In the area with Trapdragons and Spindleburrs in Bumble Beginnings, if the player is hit by a Spindleburr while in bee form in midair, they will fall onto a Bee Mushroom. When touching the Mushroom, the transformation sound will play, but they will not transform until they recover. This can also be performed with the Cloud Flower in Shiverburn Galaxy by falling in lava and touching the power-up.

Disabled electric rail

On the Banzai Bill Planet, if the player touches an electric rail after losing two wedges of health, they will pass through it without being hurt.

Fearsome Fleet teleportation glitch

In Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet, the player should activate the second moving platform and wait for another moving platform on the first track to appear. When it appears, the player should jump on it and walk into the nearby stationary platform's wall. When the platform disappears, they will be teleported back to the start.[2]

Infinite Fluttering

To perform this glitch, the player should Flutter Jump. When Yoshi is almost finished, the player should release A Button and press Nunchuk Z Button, then release Nunchuk Z Button and hold A Button, repeating this to continuously gain height.[2][20] This was discovered shortly after the game's release. This glitch is known by many as "Infinite Fluttering", and has become the most well-known glitch in the game.

Circle around the Castle Planet

On the top-right corner of the Platform Planet, if the player Flutter Jumps until they leave the planet's gravity, they will be pulled towards the Lava Castle Planet, where they will infinitely circle it until they exit the level. They can also jump off Yoshi, but will not be able to get back to him.[2][21]

Complete Grandmaster Galaxy with Yoshi

Mario and Yoshi on the Gateway Planet due to a glitch in the Grandmaster Galaxy
Mario and Yoshi on the Gateway Planet

On the top-right corner of the Flipswitch Panel Planet, the player should Flutter Jump. The screen will turn white, and after a while, they will enter the Electric Maze Area. The player should keep fluttering until they reach the Launch Star, allowing them to complete the level. It is also possible to complete the Electric Maze Area by Flutter Jumping inside the fence.[22]

Drop glitch

At the end of Saddle Up with Yoshi, the player should Flutter Jump upward for about one minute, then go on the invisible platform, and walk left. This results in the player falling, with many possible outcomes, such as repeatedly jumping, floating, teleporting, or falling down to nowhere. Touching the Coconut freezes the game.[2]

Dying in credits

A glitch called "Lose a life in the credits" from Super Mario Galaxy 2 in which "TOO BAD!" appears in the Credits.
"Too Bad" appearing in credits
The "Game Over" screen appears in the credits after doing the Lose a life in the credits glitch with only one life left.
"Game Over" appearing in credits

When showing Peach's Castle during the credits, on top of the cake, if the player Flutter Jumps until the screen pans upward, the player will go out of bounds, with "Too Bad" (or "Game Over" if the player has no extra lives) appearing, followed by the screen turning black and the music stopping. This does not stop the credits, as the sound of pages turning is still played. At the end, "The End" will appear, with "Too Bad" overlaid. Afterwards, the game will return to normal.[23][2]

This can also occur in Tall Trunk Galaxy if the player has 120 Power Stars. When shown, the player should grab the Bee Mushroom and wait until Freezy Flake Galaxy appears. Then, the player should fly towards the screen while they are still in midair. If performed correctly, they will go out of bounds, with "Too Bad" being displayed.[24][2]

Falling off Starship Mario

On Starship Mario, if the player Flutter Jumps for a long time, they will go out of bounds and lose a life.[25] This can also occur with Cloud Luigi on the Starshroom, if the player backflips, creates a cloud, Long Jumps away from Starship Mario, creates another cloud, backflips, creates the final cloud, and Long Jumps away again.[citation needed]

Flutter to the Chance Cube room

On the lower-right side of the deck on Starship Mario, the player can reach the Chance Cube room if they Flutter Jump in that direction for a long time. The player can enter the room, but the Starship Mario music will still play.

Invisible wall glitch

A glitch from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Luigi and Yoshi on the invisible wall

In Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet, if the player Flutter Jumps to the Megahammer Planet, when walking around the planet, they will hit an invisible wall.

Long fall glitch

On the far-right corner of Flipswitch Panel Planet, the player must Flutter Jump towards the abyss until the screen turns white. Then, they should jump off Yoshi and Ground Pound. Their character will shrink, and the background will return to normal. They will fall for a long time before losing a life.

Midair splashing glitch

The glitch in action

In Surf, Sand, and Silver Stars, the player should Flutter Jump back to the Water Sphere Coral Planet. At a certain height, they will be surrounded by water, which will follow them as they Flutter Jump and fall until they reach the planet.[2][26]

Platform missing glitch

In the starting area of Grandmaster Galaxy, the player should Flutter Jump to the Launch Star. Then, the player should complete the Flipswitch Panel Planet while still on Yoshi and use the Launch Star. When they are about to land, they will miss the platform and continue. The screen will turn blue, and they will lose a life. This glitch may not always happen.[27]

Reach Flash Black Galaxy's roof

Mario and Yoshi are on the roof of the house on the Starting Planet in the Flash Black Galaxy in this Super Mario Galaxy 2 glitch.
Mario and Yoshi on the roof of the large house that comprises most of the Starting Planet

At the checkpoint on the Maze Walkway Planet, the player should turn around and return to the start, crossing in front of the house. Upon returning, it is impossible for the player to enter the house through its regular entrance, but instead, it must be entered from the side. For this glitch, however, one must Flutter Jump to the roof of the house. Due to the nature of the roof and the house itself, the player will only be able to walk on the roof in 2D. Also, the player cannot stand on the roof - they are actually standing in the roof, as it has no collision.[2][28]

Reach the asteroids

On the solid platform in the Gunner Path, the player can reach the asteroids nearby by Flutter Jumping. However, as these planets do not have gravity, they can only stand on top of them.[29]

Tall Trunk Galaxy slide freeze

In The Flotacious Blimp Fruit, the player should Flutter Jump to the Tall Trunk Slide. If the player attempts to jump on the slide, the game will freeze, with the player frozen in midair, forcing the player to restart the game.[30]

Travel to other planets

The inactive Spiny Shooting Planet due to a glitch in the Yoshi Star Galaxy
Luigi and Yoshi on the Spiny Shooting Planet

On the Earth Planet in Saddle Up with Yoshi, the player has to Flutter Jump until the camera turns to the King Lakitu Planet. They will land on the planet, which is normally accessed in Spiny Control. The player can also reach the Marble Block Planet and Spiny Shooting Planet.

Unactivated Hammer Bro. glitch

In Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet, if the player Flutter Jumps to the Airship with the Hammer Bro., a cutscene trigger will be skipped, and the Hammer Bro. will not attack.[2]

Volcano eruption glitch

Near the volcano in Yoshi Star Galaxy, if the player Flutter Jumps higher than the volcano, when reaching a certain height, the volcano will erupt.[31][2]

Walk in the sky

A glitch from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Mario and Yoshi standing in midair

On the top of the Tower Planet in Saddle Up with Yoshi, the player must swing on the flower and then Flutter Jump all the way left or right while continuously gaining height. After about 3 minutes, the player will be able to stand on the sky, though they will fall if they move too far.

Yoshi in final battle glitch

Yoshi and Mario battling Bowser

In Bowser's Galaxy Generator, on the planet where the Snake Block ends, there is a large pole that will take the player to the door. The player should stand next to the pole and Flutter Jump to reach the top of the planet. The player should Ground Pound on the meteors and open the door, but get back on Yoshi before the portal opens. The cutscene will play, but when Bowser roars and the player and Luma fall to the planet, the player will be frozen. The only way to defeat Bowser is to jump off Yoshi, Ground Pound on the meteor, and land on Yoshi in midair. If the player defeats Bowser, Yoshi will be fused with one of the Lumas.[2][32][33]

Mario and Yoshi fluttering away from the planet and towards Bowser in the final battle

On the planet, Flutter Jumping can be used to perform several other glitches. If the player gets too close to Bowser, the camera will glitch slightly. They can also see that the meteorite that appear during his attack appear out of thin air. If the player flutters too far away from the planet, the gravity will change and they will fall out of bounds.[34][dead link]

Yoshi Infinite Flutter trap glitch

Luigi and Yoshi falling infinitely due to a glitch in the Hightail Falls Galaxy
The glitch in action

In Hightail Falls Galaxy, the player must Flutter Jump to the Kleptoad Planet. When very close to the planet, but not in its gravity, the player should stop fluttering. If done correctly, the player should see the background that is normally seen when the player falls into the abyss in Hightail Falls. However, the player will not lose a life, and as invisible walls prevent the player from leaving, the only way to leave is to exit the level or restart the game.

Yoshi on Cloud Tower glitch

The top of the tower in the wrong mission of the Starshine Beach Galaxy
Luigi and Yoshi on the tower

In Surf, Sand, and Silver Stars and Purple Coin Beach Dash, in thr pool with the Blimp Fruit, Coins, and 1-Up Mushroom, Yoshi must eat a fruit and fly to the larger tower out of the two. When the fruit's effects run out, the player must Flutter Jump the rest of the way. On the tower, Yoshi cannot enter a bubble, the Ground Pound switch is missing, and the hole has been sealed.

Midair crush glitch

It is unknown what causes this glitch, but if the player is on top of the Whomp King and jumps toward him while he stands up in a specific way, the player will be crushed in midair and lose a life. The player can also be randomly crushed when Long Jumping past a Tox Box in Stone Cyclone Galaxy.

Quick recovery glitch

Normally, if the player hits something when Long Jumping, they fall down and take a few seconds to stand up. However, if they Long Jumps right as they fall, the player will immediately stand up. This does not occurs when hit by an enemy.

Reappearing Watermelon glitch

In the Watermelon area in Shiverburn Galaxy, if the player destroys a Watermelon, when it reappears, it will be slightly floating in midair.[35]

Sling Star skip

On the starting planet of Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla, the player must Triple Jump, landing the third jump near the Sling Star. If the player Spins at the peak of the jump, they will end up on the Lava Planet without using the Sling Star.

Stopped Rock Mario glitch

In A Stroll Down Rolling Lane, in rock form, if the player aims directly at one of the rubber bouncers and turns into a boulder, after about 3-4 bounces, they will fly straight up and stop rolling. The glitch ends if the player moves the Nunchuk.[2]

Stubborn plants

Near an enemy Yoshi can pull to defeat, such as a Piranha Plant or a thorny flower, if Yoshi grabs onto them while Flutter Jumping, the plant will not struggle until he lands, though he can still defeat it.

Stuck on Bonus Planet

An unactivated bonus planet due to a glitch in the Throwback Galaxy
Mario sleeping on the bonus planet

In Throwback Galaxy, in cloud form, the player should go to the area right before the stairs with the Thwomp. Then, the player must go to the bottom-left corner and perform a Long Jump towards the bonus planet, using the Cloud Flower when necessary. When defeat all the enemies on the planet, the music will not change, and they will not be teleported back.[2][36]

Wall ride glitch

In Bowser's Galaxy Generator, as Luigi, the player must get a Life Mushroom and the Fluff. Then, they must fly to the high platform near the volcanic wall and rub against the wall. The player will run up the wall and fall behind it for a few seconds.

Yoshi slide glitch

Luigi and Yoshi sliding due to a glitch
The glitch in action

While riding Yoshi, the player must crouch. Then, they must release the Nunchuk Z Button and quickly shake the Wii Remote right afterward. If performed correctly, the player's character and Yoshi will remain crouched. If the player moves, Yoshi will slide across the ground.[37][38]. Footprints will still appear if they slide on sand. If the player moves into water or mud, the game will act as though it is just regular ground.[2] The glitch can be fixed by many actions, such as jumping, eating a Dash Pepper or Blimp Fruit, using a Warp Pad, talking to anyone, entering deep water, spitting out an enemy, etc.
