====''Super Mario 64 DS''==== [[Image:BigBoo.jpg|thumb|right|King Boo as encountered in ''[[Super Mario 64 DS]]''.]] King Boo appeared in the ''[[Super Mario 64]]'' remake, ''[[Super Mario 64 DS]]''. As the boss who locked [[Luigi]], he infested [[Princess Peach's Castle]] and wore a large crown and had a distinct cackle - the same laugh that would be heard later when Luigi faced the Boo leader during the events of ''Luigi's Mansion''. However, when the game was translated to English, the King was given the incorrect title, [[Big Boo]]. In ''[[Mario Kart DS]]'', this exact same enemy returned along with some other ''Super Mario 64 DS'' bosses. It was given the proper name of King Boo, as he was in the Japanese version. Regardless, this Big Boo aided Bowser in his conquest of Peach's Castle by capturing Luigi and imprisoning him in [[Big Boo's Haunt]]. Specifically, the green-clad plumber was imprisoned behind a painting of himself inside the haunted mansion. Mario eventually fought King Boo in an effort to free Luigi. To defeat the ghost leader, Mario had to follow King Boo's movements in the arena's mirrors then [[stomp]] the ghoul when he came too close. Ultimately, [[Mario]] saved his brother from King Boo's clutches and together (along with [[Yoshi (character)|Yoshi]] and [[Wario]]) they defeated Bowser and saved [[Princess Peach]]. This may have been Mario's first encounter with King Boo, as the remake of Super Mario 64 would logically take place at the same time, and take its place in the game chronology.
