Gargantua Blarggs are massive Blarggs that reside in lava. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island along with their blue, water-dwelling counterparts, Nep-Enuts.

HistoryEdit

Yoshi's Island seriesEdit

A Gargantua Blargg, as it appears in Yoshi's Island

In the Yoshi's Island series, Gargantua Blarggs have maintained a consistent behavior. When a Yoshi approaches attempt to block Yoshi's path by rising from the lava as he approaches. To pass by a Gargantua Blargg, Yoshi must throw an egg into its mouth. The Gargantua Blargg will then sink into the lava, allowing Yoshi to continue past it. However, it re-emerges after a few seconds. Unlike the smaller Red Blargg, Gargantua Blarggs cannot be defeated with an Anywhere POW. In Yoshi's Island DS, Gargantua Blarggs only appear in Gilbert the Gooey's Castle, but the game introduces a much taller variant of the same name that can destroy dense rocks. In Yoshi's New Island, Gargantua Blarggs only appear in two levels, Gargantua Blargg Attacks! and Hotfoot Hurdle.

Tetris AttackEdit

In the game Tetris Attack, a Gargantua Blargg appears as a ruler of the "Lava World", being allied with Flamer Guy. In here, as many other old enemies of Yoshi, was shown as a friend of Yoshi, being enchanted by Bowser to work for him. It replaces the flame fairy, Flare, from the original Panel de Pon.

Yoshi's Woolly World / Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly WorldEdit

Yoshi outruns a Gargantua Blargg in Yoshi's Woolly World

In Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, Gargantua Blarggs merely appear as an outline composed of an orange scarf and lack fangs. It takes three yarn balls to make the Gargantua Blargg hide back down into the lava. They mainly appear in the level Lava Scarves and Red-Hot Blarggs. There is also one in the fire area of King Bowser's Castle. If Yoshi is given an ice watermelon by the "All-you-can-eat ice watermelons!" Power Badge, he can use the melon to ultimately take down a Gargantua Blargg with one blow.

Yoshi's Crafted WorldEdit

Gargantua Blarggs reappear in Yoshi's Crafted World, in the level Poochy's Magma Run. They are made of bubbled slime and have the same behavior as in the Yoshi's Island games. When a Gargantua Blargg is hit by Yoshi's egg, it spins sinking down. There is also a costume and a craft based on Gargantua Blarggs.

You cannot defeat it, but if you hit it with three eggs, it will flinch. You can escape after you make it go down.)

I am a Blargg, Gargantua Blargg

My exploits are kind of famous. I rule the Lava World, and all should fear me. But lately, this rain has put a damper on my powers. Hmmm...
