Galactic Tornadoes, also referred to as Tornadoes in the Super Mario Galaxy instruction booklet, are giant tornadoes that appear in the Dusty Dune Galaxy and Bowser's Galaxy Reactor of the game Super Mario Galaxy. They have the ability to shoot Mario or Luigi high in the air, and Mario makes a propeller like motion while soaring. If the player does not land high up, Mario or Luigi will slowly start to fall, still in his propeller movement. The player can fly out from any tornado by shaking the Wii Remote.
Galactic Tornadoes re-appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2, with the same role as in the previous game. However, they don't appear in desert-themed galaxies, but rather the Melty Monster Galaxy.
