Flash and Dash is a 1-vs.-3 minigame featured in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the phrase "crash and dash." It takes place in a maze whose walls are made of multicolored squares.

Introduction

The starting cutscene differs depending on which role the player's character is given. If the player is part of the team, the camera pans to the spots they and their teammates are in, one at a time, finishing with the proper player. The intro shows the soloist being dropped into the maze (which spins until the soloist lands) if the player plays as them.

Gameplay

Three characters with flashlights attempt to catch the runaway character with their light beams in one of the three possible mazes. Each player has a five-light alarm. As the chasers get nearer to the target and vice versa, the alarm blinks faster and shows more lights. If the runaway is still running in the maze until the time is up, the solo player wins. If the player is caught, the other three are victorious.

Ending

If the solo player wins, they will be shown celebrating. If the team wins, the solo player will be caged with the teammates celebrating on top of the cage.
