Coin Heavens are bonus areas found in the games Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, and Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES, Super Mario World for the SNES, New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS, New Super Mario Bros. Wii for the Wii, Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS, New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U.

In all games, Coin Heaven is secretly located in the sky in several levels, accessed through a hidden item. It is loaded with coins, which the player may or may not have the ability to completely collect, and puts the player back into the main game after completing.

In Super Mario Bros., Coin Heaven can be accessed when the player hits a ? Block that holds a Vine, which upon climbing up leads the player into the area. The player then must ride along a moving cloud in order to reach all the coins before being dumped back onto the ground.

Coin Heaven is accessed differently in Super Mario Bros. 3. If the player finds an invisible pink ♩ Block, the player can jump on and be propelled upward with great force, throwing them into Coin Heaven. In this version of Coin Heaven, the game will automatically side-scroll the player through and give him a chance to collect all the coins before reaching the pipe at the end, which will send him back to the ground. If the player is equipped with either the Super Leaf or the Tanooki Suit he could sometimes fly upward and find a ? Block with a 1-Up Mushroom inside. However, he must be careful: since it's auto-scrolling, going to the left of it can crush Mario or Luigi.

In Super Mario 3D Land, many worlds contain Coin Heavens, which contain a Star Medal at the end. They can be accessed by jumping on a rainbow colored Jump Block. There are two distinct types of Coin Heavens. The most common type scrolls sideways and there is always is a single ? Block that contains an Invincibility Star, which the player can use to defeat the five Biddybuds or Para-Biddybuds present and earn a 1-Up. The other type of Coin Heaven has many cloud platforms scrolling up and often starts out with coins arranged in the shape of "3D". An isometric camera view is used to trick players who do not turn on 3D.

In New Super Mario Bros. 2, an unlockable Coin Heaven course, Rainbow World also appears for every world.

Trivia

  • The Super Mario Bros. version of Coin Heaven is duplicated in Chapter 5-3 of Super Paper Mario, where the player could find a ladder within a ? Block leading into a similar area.
  • Princess Peach's Final Smash uses a sped-up version of the Super Mario Bros. 3 Coin Heaven theme.
