The fourth minigame is about to be announced

Choice Challenge is one of the games that can be played in Minigame mode in Mario Party 9. This mode can be played by two, three, or four players. Five free-for-all minigames are randomly chosen, and each player selects three that he or she would like to play by pressing a corresponding button on the Wii remote. One minigame is announced before the players make their selection as the Chance Minigame; this minigame is worth extra points for the first place player, but normal points for other players.

The players hide in Warp Pipes and emerge only when a minigame they are playing is announced, so it is not clear who will be competing in each until then.

The minigames are played in the order of how many players selected it, starting at the least and working up to the most. If only one player selects a minigame, that player will be automatically awarded first place points without competing. Sometimes, a character will appear out of a pipe when he or she is not participating in the minigame. If that happens, Blue Toad apologizes for his error and corrects the mistake.

Points are awarded for place in minigames, and standings are announced after each minigame. The player with the most points at the end win.

Ending

After all of the minigames have been played, the counters representing the players' scores will increase simultaneously. Each time the counters reach a player's score, that player's character will come out of their Warp Pipes doing losing animations. When the 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-places players have all come out, the camera will zoom out revealing a gold Warp Pipe surrounded by gems. The 1st place player will then come out of it and be declared the champion.

In-Game Description

"Players choose three out of five minigames. Points are awarded based on the results of each minigame. The player with the highest total at the end is the champion!

There'll be 100 points awarded for first place, 50 points for second, 30 points for third, and 10 points for fourth. Some of the games you'll play are Chance Minigames. Winning one of these will earn you 150 points!

Please choose the three out of five minigames that you think will net you the most points!"
