B Dasher
Template:Kart-infobox The B Dasher is Mario's main kart of choice in the game Mario Kart DS, and it returns as an unlockable kart body in Mario Kart 7, along with being a downloadable kart body in Mario Kart 8. It is a long, skinny, white kart with stripes along each side and a massive engine block with four large exhaust pipes. It appeared on the box art of Mario Kart DS, and it resembles the real Honda RA272 Formula One car.
In Mario Kart Wii, there is a kart called the B Dasher Mk 2 in Europe, Australia, and Japan, making it the Mario Kart DS kart's successor. However, it's called the Sprinter in the American edition.
History
Mario Kart DS
The B Dasher appears as the main kart in Mario Kart DS. Like the Standard Kart, it is balanced in stats and has average speed, good handling, sharp drift, above average acceleration, and high items & weight; it is one of the heaviest karts in the game, and its weight is tied with the Hurricane. In a minor note, despite its appearance would suggest, it has a weak-sounding engine, and shared with Standard Kart.
To let any character use the kart, the player must obtain all the gold cups in 150cc mirror mode. Until then, only Mario can use this kart.
Mario Kart 7
The B Dasher reappears in Mario Kart 7 as one of the selectable kart frames, and is more speed-focused than in Mario Kart DS. It features a speed and handling boost, but its acceleration and off-road stats are hindered during the process. In fact, the B Dasher is tied with the Blue Seven and Bolt Buggy for having the lowest acceleration of all kart bodies. Fortunately, it's tied with the Blue Seven, Bruiser, and Zucchini for having the highest speed of all kart bodies, and it's the fastest kart body to have a positive handling boost. In addition, it is now powered by a four-stroke engine, which has a more powerful and aggressive exhaust sound.
A CPU Mario is more likely to be seen driving on this body.
Mario Kart 8
The B Dasher once again returns in Mario Kart 8 as part of the first downloadable content pack, The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8.[1] It shares the same exact stats with the Mach 8, Sports Coupe, Circuit Special, Gold Standard, and P-Wing.

- Its name is most likely a reference to the controls of the side-scrolling platformer games - the player presses and holds the B button to dash. The
in SNES was also used for acceleration in Super Mario Kart. - The overall design of the kart was likely inspired by Honda's early F1 cars, particularly the RA271 through RA300 (1964-1968) models. The Honda RA272 was the first Japanese car to win an F1 race.
- In Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, Mario's special kart resembles a stylized form of the B Dasher.
- The B Dasher's exhaust design seems to be the inspiration for the exhausts of the Standard Kart from Mario Kart Wii.
- The B Dasher's name in Dutch is Sprinter, a reference to the Sprinter (B Dasher Mk 2 in PAL regions and Japan) from Mario Kart Wii.
- The Circuit Special in Mario Kart 8 is called Sprinter 2.0 in Dutch, further making it a successor to both karts.
- In Mario Kart 8, it shares the same engine sound as the Mach 8, implying that it has a supercharger fitted.
