Pokémon (Gen 6) 2015 Tournament

by Palkia47 (talk)

Hiya hiya hiya everyone ヽ( ◕ヮ◕)ノ ! I am Packy, your so very lovable Fun Stuff Director, and I am here to present to you the Awards Pokémon Tournament of 2015! The tournament will be using the games from generation 6 (Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire) and, with me, I have my also very lovable co-host, Smasher (talk)! :’D

Our tournament is currently formatted to hold two Pokémon tournaments: a main tournament (Single Battles) and a side tournament (Double Battles).

We are going to be using a mixture of “flat rules” and “normal rules”:

  • There will be a set level of LEVEL 50 – that means any Pokémon over level 50 will be reduced to level 50, and any Pokémon below level 50 will raised to level 50.
  • There will be no same Pokémon in a single party – for example, you cannot have two Typhlosion’s on your team.
  • There will be no same item in a single party – for example, you cannot have a hyper potion on a Chikorita and a hyper potion on a Misdreavus.
  • There will be no legendary Pokémon, and Mega Evolutions and Primal Reversions are also banned.

Both the singles tournament and the doubles tournament will use a “best-of-three” system as we did back in 2013. This means, opponents will play each other two times to decide who moves onto the next round, and if the opponents tie, than a third match will be used to break the tie and decide who moves onto the next round. The championship will be using a “best-of-five” system, where the winner of three matches will ultimately be crowned champion.

Our tournament will be giving out tokens, which is the “awards currency.” These tokens can be used for prizes after the awards ceremony, and these prizes include Steam games and different types of items. I have yet to figure out how many tokens will be given out for our tournament, so stay tuned if you are interested!

Our current schedule has sign-ups opened till June 1st, where they will then close and the matches will be revealed on June 6th. The singles tournament will then begin on June 8th, and will presumably spread across the entire month of June. A single round will be played over 4 days (so the first round will be played from the beginning of June 8th to the end of June 11th), and in that time period of 4 days, opponents must play their best-of-three matches. After the conclusion of the singles tournament near the end of June, the doubles tournament will begin immediately thereafter.

If you are interested in signing up for the tournament or want to read into some more information, check out the forum topic here!

If any of you have questions concerning the Pokémon tournament(s), then please contact either Smasher (talk) at his talk page (linked over there to the left) or message him over on the forums or contact me over at the forums, or shoot me a message on my talk page over at Palkia47 (talk)! Thank you everyone for reading and thank you if you are deeply interested in signing up!
