Split Vampire Wario and Vampire Bat Wario into separate articles[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

NO QUORUM 2-0

Vampire Wario and Vampire Bat Wario (aka Bat Wario) are extremely similar, but as the latter suggests, Wario only gains the powers of his bat form. Moreover, the transformation in Wario Land 4 doesn't apply to two categories at the bottom of the current article: Shapeshifters and (necessarily) Undead, which is more of a fit for the Wario Land 3 incarnation. It's not too different from, say, Raccoon Mario and the original Tanooki Mario, where they have the same basic powers but one has an additional move over the other.

Support[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Mario (talk) I think a split is pretty much needed since being a vampire that can transform to a bat and being only a bat are two slightly different, but noteworthy things.

Oppose[edit]

Comments[edit]

Just for clarity, are we going to mention Vampire Bat Wario in both articles, or are we moving relevant information from Vampire Wario to Vampire Bat Wario? Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:23, 11 December 2014 (EST)

Basically, since Vampire Bat Wario is really a similar but separate form in Wario Land 4 (especially since there's no actual "vampiric" transformation involved like in Wario Land 3), the idea is to move the Wario Land 4 info away from the Wario Land 3/Dr. Mario 64 stuff. Although it may not be be a bad idea for the articles to have a note at the top saying that they're not to be confused with each other. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:01, 13 December 2014 (EST)

PASSED 5-1

See above for reasons; it was short two votes, but I'm giving it another chance to reach an actual conclusion.

Support[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Mario (talk)
  3. Toadbrigade5 (talk) Per all, including the above proposal.
  4. Yoshi K (talk) Per proposal. The only thing that concerns me is that the articles may be too short, but I think that they could work.
  5. Walkazo (talk) - My knee-jerk reaction was to leave it merged since the forms overlap so much, but I suppose the different names forces our hands. Still, it's a very hard call: if I hadn't resolved to try and vote on all the TPPs this round, I probably would've just abstained.

Oppose[edit]

  1. Pseudo-dino (talk) Bat Wario seems like a different version of the form to me, not a different form altogether. The difference between this and Raccoon/Tanooki Mario stated in the older proposal is that they appear in different games. Just as Ice Mario remains a single page despite the form having radically different operation between Galaxy and NSMBW, this should remain one page.

Comments[edit]

You probably need to ask some people to vote or have an opinion. No, I wasn't thinking of fishing people for votes, but I believe that your proposal was overlooked, or maybe people were swamped by those other proposals. :P Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to help spread the word a bit (as long as it isn't considered cheating or whatever). But yeah, I admit, maybe a bit overboard on those proposals there, but figured it's better to get more concensus out of the way.. LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:22, 22 December 2014 (EST)
Actually, you're not allowed to solicit votes. I didn't vote on anything because, yeah, there were so many right at once and I didn't have time to properly read up on wach one right away, and then I kept putting off / forgetting to get back to it (two weeks seems like plenty of time to circle back to things - but then it's suddenly past deadline). Maybe stagger the proposals a bit more next time. Anyway, I'll try to vote on things this time - I'm starting to have more free time again. - Walkazo 20:19, 23 December 2014 (EST)

Well, you might need another run, LinkTheLefty. Third time's the charm, I guess. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:09, 3 January 2015 (EST)

@Person-who's-username-I-forgot-but-opposed-it. The thing with the Ice Marios is that they share an official name. Racoon, Tanooki, like the proposed, are different names with different moves.Artwork of the Toad Brigade from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.Toad and his brigade!Toadette model CTTT.png 17:56, 4 January 2015 (EST)

@YoshiK: I think the articles will be at a decent length. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:06, 4 January 2015 (EST)

Yea that's the conclusion I came to, sorry if I was unclear about that. It was just a minor concern I had. Red YoshiYoshi K (talk) Artwork of Red Yoshi in Yoshi Touch & Go 21:03 4 January 2015 (EST)

Names in Other Languages[edit]

The Names in Other Languages section is very confusing right now. It lists "(Wario Land 3)" in the meaning column for all the Vampire Wario names and includes several translations for "bat" with no explanation (I'm guessing those might be for his bat form...?). Either way, I'm not sure what it's trying to tell me and something might have gotten lost along the way.---vellidragon (talk) 18:06, December 19, 2021 (EST)

Split Bat-Wario and merge it to Bat Wario[edit]

relocate info 4-3
A while back (see above), the Warioland 4 Bat Wario was split from this page. While this is all well and good, it feels odd that the original Bat Wario from Wario Land 3 is not included in that. Technically speaking, in WL3, Vampire and Bat are two separate forms that can be switched between, and WL4 streamlined it by removing the "vampire" one. For all other intents and purposes, the WL3 Bat form and WL4 Bat form are identical. Basically, the "Vampire Wario" page would cover the humanoid form in WL3 and Doctor Mario 64, while the "Bat Wario" page would cover the winged form in WL3 and WL4.

Support[edit]

  1. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - It's driving me batty, so I'll bat it away! Bat's all my puns, I know they're all bat.
  2. DrippingYellow (talk) I mean... they act almost exactly the same (barring the ability to transform back into a vampire), they look very similar, the only thing separating the forms' names is a hyphen. Also, even if Bat Wario isn't specifically called a vampire, and isn't known to react to garlic, it still reacts to being exposed to light (another common weakness of Dracula), and the enemy that causes the transformation is literally named "Minicula".
  3. MegaBowser64 (talk) Per.
  4. Metalex123 (talk) Per all.

Oppose[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) As the manual/quote states: "As Vampire Wario, he can change to bat form or vampire form." In other words, 3's Vampire Wario can shapeshift (like a vampire), not that Vampire Wario specifically refers to the human. Without the bat, Vampire Wario is kind of lackluster in gameplay and doesn't present many puzzle opportunies if I remember right, which is probably exactly why it was phased out. 4's individual Bat Wario also isn't really vampiric nor is shown to be weak to garlic, making it a poor fit for that category outside of the connection to Vampire Wario. I think I would just rather re-merge since Bat Wario is a clear evolution/streamlining of Vampire Wario.
  2. Camwoodstock (talk) Per LinkTheLefty--we feel like a merge seeing as Bat Wario is basically just Vampire Wario But Expanded Upon makes the most sense, as opposed to a split like this. After all, the P-Wing-ified Raccoon Mario is merged with the Raccoon Mario article despite technically having his own appearance in the overworld. Though, this is definitely an edge case, and we're admittedly just going with what we feel is most elegant/simple to understand for readers.
  3. Hewer (talk) Per the manual suggesting that both forms are Vampire Wario in Wario Land 3.
