Yeah, I think it was cancelled in favor of Banjo-Kazooie. -- Sir Grodus

I'm so glad. It went down weak and was replaced with something strong..... -- f_Warioloafm_11fbe06.png W L* Stolen Art 17:37, 2 February 2007 (EST)

I could've been strong, no one knows. And don't mock Bumper, he's awesome!--Aipom_Banana_2.gif Aipom --

[edit] Notable

This wiki doesn't have article on released Conker or Banjo games, so why is a canceled Timber game more notable to the Marioverse? HyperToad@Timber 64Image:HT Sig.png

Conker and Banjo spun-off into their own series. They are spin-offs of a spin-off of a spin-off of the Mario series. The same would be with this game, but we can't be for sure that Diddy wouldn't be in it, etc. The bottom line is this, though: Banjo and Conker were taking up way too much space, and unlike the Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Smash Bros. series, the Banjo and Conker series didn't make references back to Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong, or Mario. The best thing we got a reference to Mario in Banjo-Tooie that is currently documented on the references page. That is why they got cut. I can best explain this in the following terms: Doctor Who. It's a British television show with three spin-offs. Two of those spin-offs link, reference and relate back, and they are covered by the Doctor Who Wikia. Characters from the main series appear in the spin-offs and vice versa. Those spin-offs are operated and run by the same parent company that runs the central television show. Finally, there's the third spin-off which is not run by the same company and does not intend to link back to the main show in the way that the first two spin-offs did. There are a bunch of other liberties taken, as well. All in all, the third spin-off isn't trying to work into the main series. The same sort of thing happened with Banjo and Conker. Unlike Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, they stopped appearing in Mario games and there weren't any references to Mario in their series (remember Donkey Kong Country, where Cranky frequently referenced the old days, including the events of Donkey Kong?). Anyway, to get back to your question, since we don't know Rare's intention at connecting to the Mario series with Timber 64, I'm rooting for us still including it. Stumpers, that comment is Five Months Old.

Speaking of this, is there any tangible proof for this game existence? A Google search only turn up this article and a forum thread on a Rare Fansite. --Blitzwing 17:21, 13 November 2008 (EST)

That comment could be five years old, and it still wouldn't matter: it was a question that needed to be answered. I had a similar concern myself, so I can't imagine that I would be the last user ever to have that concern. That being said, your second point is spot on. Stumpers! 02:12, 14 November 2008 (EST)

This game was actually never named Timber 64. It was assumed that his game would be called that though.<<< Knife 01:54, 15 November 2008 (EST)

Hmm. There must be a reliable source out there with the official name for the cancelled game, ill try and find it after im done with writing an article. Super-YoshiMust...eat...sig...Talk? C???
