Is this name official? Reshiram.pngSupermariofan14Zekrom.png

The name "Sentry Beam" appears in the SMG2 Prima guide, and that's as official as we seem to have. Otherwise, the only other name I could find was on Wikipedia Japan, where each of the different types of Sentry Beam seem to be listed as: レーザーポッド (Jump Beamer), ジャンプビーマー (Laser Pod), リングビーマー (Ring Beamer), and ボールビーマー (Ball Beamer). However, there's a chance I misread the descriptions. Vent 15:03, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

Buoy Base Topman Sentry[edit]

Why isn't the Topman Sentry Beam mentioned on this article, or in a screenshot? If you don't know what I'm talking about, It's on the top of Buoy Base, and it is Green with Yellow squares, and shoots out Topminis.

That one should be listed, as it appears in the Japanese player's guide with the name Jump Garage (ジャンプガレージ). Vent (talk) 22:45, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

Split?[edit]

Would it be a good idea to split the Sentry Beams by type, especially the mobile one? The mobile one doesn't even emit a ring; it aims and shoots a laser at you. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:18, 6 November 2015 (EST)

Shouldn't these be split into multiple articles?[edit]

Like the previous topic from a few years back, it seems kind of excessive to have 5 separate enemies with different (Japanese) names combined into one page. I'd even be hesitant to keep the "Laser Pod" and "Spring" types together if they weren't both referred to as such (which I assume they are, might check the Mario Galaxy guidebook just to confirm). Not sure if the other variants were ever named, and I feel like we should split them up. BubbleRevolution (talk) 10:02, 26 February 2018 (EST)

Yeah, this page is a mess. If they were split, what would their names be? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:32, 26 February 2018 (EST)
I'd go back and reference the guidebooks and see if there's a definitive name for any of them, and which ones use "Sentry Beam" the most, etc. If we were to split the other types, I'd just rename those based on what their Japanese names are, which are all written using English words anyway. Ok, looking into the history of this page, I honestly don't know if "Sentry Beam" was actually used to refer to both types, it seems like they were just lumped together prior to any official name being discovered. Going to check on which ones are actually referred to as such in the guide within the next few days. (EDIT: Okay nevermind, checked the guide, "Sentry Beam" is only used to refer to the laser pod robots. The "Beamer" enemies are not named in any guide, so their Japanese names should be used. Going to do that later. BubbleRevolution (talk) 08:37, 27 February 2018 (EST)
