Talk:Naval Bud

Official name?
- Yoshi Master

Yes. Or at least, it says "bud" in the player's guide. And we wouldn't want this cofused with Lava Bud. Parayoshiicon.jpgPara Yoshi Wahoo!Parayoshiicon.jpg 15:22, 6 January 2007 (EST)

I don't think we need an article on these things, we might jsut as well create an article for Mario foot. Gofer

I think this article should stay, because every character in Tetris Attack has a partner. Naval Piranha's partners are these bus. Or so I think... -- Son of Suns

Hookbill and Bowser don't have partners, and these aren't listed as Naval Piranha's partners at all. They're never acknowledged as individual enemies any game they've ever appeared in, so this article is totally unnecessary. Vent 11:28, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

Delete?[edit]

Is there any reason to keep this page? The name's conjectural, and these have never been acknowledged as separate entities from Naval Piranha in any of their appearances. Niiue (talk) 01:05, 25 May 2017 (EDT)

Why does this even exist? It's a conjecturally-named page for something that's never been officially treated as a separate entity from Naval Piranha in any game. This feels like it only exists to give the wiki a counterpart to Lava Bud.

Support[edit]

  1. Niiue (talk) Per proposal.

Oppose[edit]

  1. Lcrossmk8 (talk) This article exists for the exact same reason the Lava Bud article exists, they are both the young versions of the adult Piranha versions.
  2. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) It's a rather clear counterpart, at least have a "merge" option.
  3. Astro-Lanceur (talk)they are enemies. 'nuff said
  4. Wildgoosespeeder (talk) Agree with everyone except for Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) with a merge option.
  5. Toadette the Achiever (talk) They are actual obstacles in Yoshi's Woolly World, and advocating for this article's deletion is like deleting not just Bungee Bud, but also supporters such as Pin Enemy or Mini Yux.

Comments[edit]

@Lcrossmk8: The difference is, Lava Buds were officially named and treated as unique enemies during the Lava Piranha fight. Niiue (talk) 21:10, 5 November 2017 (EST)

What about Bungee Bud? LinkTheLefty (talk) 00:43, 6 November 2017 (EST)
That should probably be deleted too, imo. Niiue (talk) 00:46, 6 November 2017 (EST)

Official name or not? Scrapbook theater description: in-game or not?[edit]

So, if anyone has Yoshi's Woolly World, is "Four Naval Buds also appear in the background." the in-game description? Or is it just the description from the wiki? See Scrapbook Theater. --83.156.220.80 13:45, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Description from the wiki, I guess. There are no in-game descriptions for that. However, these are based on what is seen on the screen. So, it's still conjecture. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 14:05, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Yoshi's Crafted World[edit]

For reference, the internal filename for the bud in Yoshi's Crafted World is BossKusudama (with Spike the Piranha itself being BossPackun). Kusudama seems specific to Crafted World, however. LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:14, May 25, 2021 (EDT)

I think this should just be merged altogether, instead of keeping a page split, and splitting another one. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:54, July 25, 2021 (EDT)

Merge?[edit]

Should we merge? It hasn't gotten a distinction, unlike Lava Piranha. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 12:05, December 23, 2021 (EST)

Eh, i'd agree to a merge, first though i'd like to know what the internal filename is, that might help me decide. Somethingone (talk) 12:15, December 23, 2021 (EST)
I don't think SNES has filenames. Maybe Yoshi's Woolly World, but that would possibly be generic. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:54, December 24, 2021 (EST)

Merge with Naval Piranha and/or Bungee Piranha, or delete.[edit]

Merge both 4-0-1-1-0-1
Unlike Lava Piranha, they are not given a separate name, and merely serve as protrusions/obstacles. It wouldn't change much if they were just vines. YCW doesn't help much, since it's from à different Piranha Plant, though i'be curious to know what the YWW filename is.

Merge both Naval Bud and Bungee Bud to their respective articles[edit]

  1. FanOfYoshi (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Blinker (talk) Per proposal. These are basically just limbs. I wouldn't be opposed to merging "Smilax" either, especially since that's what Megasmilax (Queen Packun) is called in dialogue, but that's beside the point.
  3. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) I mean, we don't have an article for King Croacus's weird extra heads, nor should we.
  4. Archivist Toadette (talk) Unless there's an actual incentive to create articles on parts of bosses, I see no reason for these to stay separate.

Delete[edit]

Split YCW "Bud"[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) I'd prefer keeping the buds due to the existence of Lava Bud and, to a lesser extent, Smilax, and Crafted World buds have unique characteristics.

Split YCW bud while merging naval and bungee buds[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) For the most part, they aren't too distinct, so I'd be okay if they were to share one generic article.

#FanOfYoshi (talk) Second option, per LinkTheLefty.

Split YCW bud while deleting naval and bungee buds[edit]

Don't do anything[edit]

  1. Results May Vary (talk) I would leave as-is seeing as these are small extensions who are part of Naval Piranha.

Comments[edit]

I went over this once here, but from what I've seen, Woolly World filenames are extremely utilitarian and practically unusable. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:43, April 9, 2022 (EDT)

What's the YIDS filename? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 15:50, April 9, 2022 (EDT)
It looks like the game's bosses are "objboss" followed by numbers. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:03, April 12, 2022 (EDT)
