Is this a valid article[edit]

Horses are set to appear in the new Mario & Sonic game however since the game isn't out yet that means the only time horses have appeared in a Mario game is through Epona who appears as a sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and since we can only use latest appearances from released games as set forward by this proposal [1] doesn't that mean that this article should be redirected to Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games at least until the game comes out? Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

I agree...I'm not sure if this is valid, either. aaaaaaaa Mariomario64! 22:22, 10 August 2011 (EDT)
Let's leave it that way. It's not a good idea to have a such problem as this. There's nothing wrong with that. The game is about to be released soon after all. Let's be patient. The lastest appearance will be changed if the users remove it or change it with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so it's useless.--Prince Ludwig 23:54, 10 August 2011 (EDT)
The problem is that technically the horse is only a beta element that's only planned to be in a game however because there is a possibility that they might get taken out i think it's better right now for it to be redirected to Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 until the game comes out than the article can be restored since right now the only real appearance is via a cameo in Brawl which is covered in the sticker section also if this article is valid some one need to write it in a way that explains that horses have not appeared in a mario game other than brawl Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
If that's so, the official trailer wouldn't show the equestian will be in the game. I'm pretty sure myself the equestian will be in the game, with horses. The problem would maybe be the other horses...
Yes i understand that the chances of them being removed are highly unlikely but what i'm saying is that right now Horses are a beta element and i'm not sure if this species qualifies to be an article until the game is released so what i'm saying is that it shouldn't be deleted but rather redirected to the Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 and than recreated when the game is released Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
If there's nothing I could do about redirecting or keeping it, please give me some more time before it. And I just want to ask this; should I write down about their appearance? They are sightly Mario-ish in the game.--Prince Ludwig 00:12, 11 August 2011 (EDT)
Well that i'm not sure about on one hand if we are going to redirect this article than having as much info as possible could help whoever restores when the games comes out. However; since the games not out were basing this article on information that could change and render what was in this article outdated and wrong so i don't know maybe you should ask an admin Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

Nobody ain't asking anybody. That may not be a good idea. Let's just wait until an administrator comes to see this.--Prince Ludwig 00:22, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

Discussion is closed[edit]

There's no need to worry about it. Look at this [[2]], very close enouugh. You will see that Luigi is ridding a Horse. So the Equistian is confirmed. There is no longer an issue.--Prince Ludwig 03:42, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

That's not the issue i'm saying that they haven't made an actual appearance in a mario game outside of Brawl in which they made only a small appearance as a sticker and therefore should not have a full article until the game is released and either way the article needs to be rewrote to address the fact that they have not not appeared in a mario game yet Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
But at least it's solved. Let's put the lastest appearance back after the game is released then. Could you help me to gather some wiki infos of the Horse article?--Prince Ludwig 14:38, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

keep Mario Sports Superstars and Mario & Sonic series info 1-2-0-5-0
Considering we've done this to Cow, Giraffe, Elephant, and, most recently, Kangaroo, I see no need not to examine this article, either. However, since there's a lot to discuss about what needs to stay and what needs to go, I've narrowed it down to five options:

  1. Delete: Literally that.
  2. Keep information regarding Mario Sports Superstars: Horses do have a non-generic appearance in Mario Sports Superstars, where the player can customize their appearance and statistics for the Equestrian category.
  3. Keep information regarding the Mario & Sonic series: While it's a bit more generic, horses are also prominent in the Mario & Sonic series. I'm just throwing that option in just in case someone feels that info needs to stay.
  4. Keep information regarding both Mario Sports Superstars and the Mario & Sonic series: Conglomeration of options 2 and 3.
  5. Keep all information: Also literally that.

I'd recommend the second option, though the fourth option is my second choice.

Delete this page[edit]

  1. Yoshi the SSM (talk) According to MarioWiki:Generic subjects, an article can't be created (or stay in this case) if "The subject is significant to the gameplay. This does not apply to sports games." While it is significant in MSS and MASATO series, they are both sports games.

Keep Mario Sports Superstars info[edit]

  1. Toadette the Achiever (talk) My preferred choice.
  2. Yoshi the SSM (talk) Although in MSS you can customize your horses, so that is something.

Keep Mario & Sonic series info[edit]

Keep Mario Sports Superstars and Mario & Sonic series info[edit]

  1. Toadette the Achiever (talk) Second choice.
  2. Waluigi Time (talk) Although I'm leaning more towards Mario Sports Superstars only because they seem more generic in Mario & Sonic, they still play an important role in those games as opposed to other generic animals which are usually only background elements, like the ones in DKCR.
  3. BBQ Turtle (talk) I think the Mario & Sonic information may need a bit of a review, but still needs to stay as the horses do play a key role in their events, and the Mario Sports Superstars information obviously needs to be here, per proposal.
  4. Alex95 (talk) - They have a role in both series, so voting for this.
  5. TheFlameChomp (talk) The article definitely doesn't need the rest of the info, but I feel the games the horses play an important role in should be kept. Per all.

Keep the page as is[edit]

Comments[edit]

I don't know about this, unlike Kangaroo, where the "main" Kangaroo is a wholly separate entity from the rest, and Cow/Moo-Moo, where the most relevant design was a consistent feature, this seems to mostly be generic cartoon horses with no outstanding recurring characteristics outside the norm of real horses, ie no real way to say what the "main" horse would be. And YSSM, I think that rule refers primarily to sports equipment, so we don't have an article on every beanbag or curling stone or whatever. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:34, 25 April 2018 (EDT)
