Star Block
From the Super Mario Wiki
This article is about the blocks from Super Paper Mario. For information about the green blocks from Super Mario World, see here. For the item that appeared in Mario Party DS, see here.
Star Blocks appear in Super Paper Mario. They serve as goals for every chapter in the game, except for chapter 8-4. After one of the four heroes hits one of these blocks, the chapter will end, and the player will have the option to save. After that, there is a short dialogue and/or cutscene, then the next chapter will start (or, in the case of X-4 levels, the player will return to Flipside).
