Spiny (hedgehog)

Spinies are a species of hedgehogs found in Mario Kart 64. They appear in the middle of several paths in Yoshi Valley. If a racer hits a Spiny, their kart would spin out. They resemble Porcupo from Super Mario Bros. 2, except for the fact that Porcupos are purple and Spinies are black. However, in the original NES release of Super Mario Bros. 2, graphical limitations resulted in Porcupos being black in colour like Spinies, though their official artwork still depicted them as purple.
