The Shadow Bandana is an item used by Bowser Jr. to transform into Shadow Mario during the events of Super Mario Sunshine. The bandana is a dark blue color and has a dark Mario nose and mustache. It is unknown exactly how Bowser Jr. got the shadow bandana. Some fans say he stole it from Professor E. Gadd along with the Magic Paintbrush, while others say he recieved as a gift from Bowser to help conquer Isle Delfino. To activate the bandana, Bowser jr. must first put the bandana over his mouth, then flip to become Shadow Mario. After the events of Super Mario Sunshine, Junior replaced the shadow bandanna with one that has fangs painted on it (which has no special effects at all). This is probably due to the fact that everybody already knows he is Shadow Mario, or that there is no point in being Shadow Mario because he is without his paintbrush.
