Robo Koopa (alter ego)
From the Super Mario Wiki
“The fun's not over yet! I've got super vision! Super hearing! Super strength! And yes, even... Super toes! And each one of my little piggies is gonna blast ya!”
—Robo Koopa, Robo Koopa
Robo Koopa was a powerful form of King Koopa that appeared in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Robo Koopa." King Koopa assumed the alter ego after acquiring a special robo suit - a large, automated, full-body suit that was built by Dr. Nerdnick for the Koopa king. The powerful suit contained numerous features and gadgets, and made Robo Koopa nearly invincible while wearing it. On the chest of the suit was the door of an inner compartment which housed many of the suit's features, as well as eight buttons; four on each side. Some, but not all of the suit's abilities had to be triggered by pushing a button. Others could seemingly be activated from inside the suit in some manner. Using the suit's power, Robo Koopa initiated a reign of terror over Robo Land, and almost defeated Mario and Luigi.

[edit] "Robo Koopa"
Prior to the events of "Robo Koopa," King Koopa had arrived in Robo Land, and somehow convinced resident inventor Dr. Nerdnick into building him a robotic suit he could use to destroy the Mario Bros. Upon receiving the suit, King Koopa wore it, dubbed himself Robo Koopa and locked up Dr. Nerdnick in his own workshop.
Using the suit's artillery functions, Robo Koopa terrorized Robo Land with it, most likely to attract the attention of Mario's group. Upon their arrival in Robo Land, Robo Koopa came close to defeating Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad. Before he could do so, Bunsen showed up and quickly reprogrammed the suit by pressing a sequence of buttons, which sent it, along with Robo Koopa, walking backwards and out of control, although it successfully bombed a building in the process.
Robo Koopa managed to regain control of the suit at some point, and soon came across Mario's group as they were rescuing Dr. Nerdnick from his workshop, where Robo Koopa had kept him prisoner. Unable to figure out a way to utilize the suit to catch his enemies, Dr. Nerdnick overheard Robo Koopa, and mumbled the solution in an unintelligable language that he spoke in, which Bunsen then translated. Hearing this, Robo Koopa was able to use the suit to spawn force fields around Princess Toadstool and Toad. He then proceeded to chase Mario, Luigi, Dr. Nerdnick and Bunsen out of the workshop and through Robo Land. Robo Koopa attempted to crush them with by toppling over a transformer with his bare hands, but Robo Koopa ultimately electrocuted himself when Mario and Luigi deflected the transformer with water from a fire hydrant, giving Mario's group a chance to make their getaway.
Later, a Robo Troopa alerted Robo Koopa about how Mario and Luigi had come to challenge him in their own robot suit that Dr. Nerdnick had just built, the Plumbinator, and he accepted. Upon rendezvousing with the Plumbinator, Robo Koopa attempted to attack them with Bomb Plants, a giant fist and a lasso, but none of his attacks hit the Plumbinator. He eventually succeeded in destroying the Plumbinator by kicking it off the rooftop of a tall building.
With the Plumbinator destroyed, Robo Koopa succeeded in chasing down and capturing Dr. Nerdnick. However, Bunsen translated Dr. Nerdnick's warning that the robo suit was about to run out of fuel unless Robo Koopa were to press a particular button. Instead, Dr. Nerdnick and Bunsen tricked Robo Koopa into pressing the ejector seat button, which sent the Koopa King flying out of the robo suit and into the sky.
With King Koopa gone from Robo Land, Dr. Nerdnick realized that Robo Koopa's robo suit would only result in more danger if someone else were to use it. As such, he decided to convert it into a "robo pizza oven" as a present for Mario and Luigi. Despite Mario and Luigi's appreciation, the robo pizza oven was never seen again.
[edit] Powers and Abilities
| Image | Ability | Description |
|---|---|---|
| | Bullet Bill Launcher | Hidden in the arm of the suit was a retractable cannon which could fire Bullet Bills. Although technically a Bill Blaster, it bared no actual resemblance to one. |
| | Super Strength | Robo Koopa was shown to be able to shatter an entire building to pieces with little more than a single punch. |
| | Super Vision | Binoculars came out of the helmet portion of the suit and positioned themselves over Robo Koopa's eyes, thereby enhancing his eyesight. |
| | Super Hearing | The horns of the helmet could extend outwards like antennas, assumedly increasing Robo Koopa's hearing capabilites. |
| | Super Toes | Large cannons conceiled within the feet of the robo suit. They were capable of firing Bomb Plants. |
| | Force Field Beam | By pressing a certain button, the suit could fire a beam of energy out of its index finger, which conceiled its targets within force fields. |
| | Fist | A large fist could extend out of the suit's chest cavity and serve as a battering ram. |
| | Lasso | By pressing a certain button, a robotic arm twirling a rope could extend out of the chest cavity and lasso its target. |
| | Jetpack | A jetpack could extend out from the back of the suit, giving Robo Koopa the ability to fly. |
| | Ejector Seat | By pushing a certain button, the suit would blast Robo Koopa out of the suit and into the sky. It was likely included for emergency use only. |
| | Pizza Oven | After Robo Koopa was defeated, Dr. Nerdnick converted the chest cavity of the robo suit into a pizza oven. Although the limbs were kept intact, they no longer served any real purpose. |
[edit] Trivia
- Robo Koopa is a spoof of RoboCop, while his nemesis the Plumbinator is a parody of the Terminator. Although RoboCop and Terminator are from different franchises, they have fought each other in various crossover media.
- In addition to the abilites listed above, Robo Koopa attempted to attack Mario's group by pressing what he referred to as a "Destroy you miserable little meddlers button". What exactly this function was supposed to do (or if it even existed) is unknown, as Mario's group ran away before Robo Koopa could get it to work. However, Robo Koopa was seen using his Bullet Bill Launcher shortly afterwards, so it may have just been the button for it.
