A Spear Shy Guy is a toylike pink Spear Guy that appears in Mario vs. Donkey Kong. It is usually sleeping on a platform. Whenever Mario jumps on the same platform, the Spear Shy Guy awakens and quickly runs toward Mario. However, if a Mini-Mario jumps onto the platform, the Spear Shy Guy will not be awoken. Whenever a Spear Shy Guy reaches the end of the platform they are on, they will sit down and fall back asleep. Spear Shy Guys constantly hold spears pointing upward whether they are asleep or awake, in the same manner as a typical Spear Guy; therefore, attempting to jump on top of the enemy will cause Mario to lose a life.
