Master (title)

The title of Master is given to the supreme leader of the Kremling Krew. The title has only been known to be held by two individuals: King K. Rool and his apparent successor KAOS. Presumably, there have been other Masters in the past before King K. Rool rose to power – one Master may have led an army of Kremlings during the Kremean War, although this is unconfirmed. However, it is possible the title of Master originated during the reign of King K. Rool himself. After the events of Donkey Kong Land 2, King K. Rool lost his title of Master to the robotic entity known as KAOS. As such, KAOS was the leader of the Kremling Krew during the events of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is unknown how or why King K. Rool lost his title of Master to KAOS. However, it was later revealed that KAOS was only the de jure Master, and King K. Rool, in his guise of Baron K. Roolenstein, was the de facto Master. KAOS was merely a robotic creation that took direct orders from King K. Rool himself, effectively making King K. Rool the true leader of the Kremling Krew. It is unknown if the other Kremlings knew that KAOS was being controlled behind the scenes, or if they were part of a conspiracy to possibly fool the Kong Family into believing their old nemesis had fallen out of power. Regardless, after the events of Donkey Kong Country 3, King K. Rool officially reclaimed the title of Master, and led the Kremling Krew during the events of Donkey Kong Land III, Donkey Kong 64, and beyond.

In the Donkey Kong Country episode "Speed", Krusha, after becoming "smartified" after being hit by a minecart, proceeds to usurp King K. Rool of his position as Master, reducing him to servant status alongside Klump. Krusha's plans of stealing the Crystal Coconut and world domination are ultimately cut short as, after another incident with a minecart near the episode's end, his intelligence is reduced back to normal and King K. Rool promptly reclaims his position.
