Phantamanta is a boss in Super Mario Sunshine. It appears in the first episode of Sirena Beach, The Manta Storm. It's a pink silhouette ghost-like manta ray that attacks on Sirena Beach. When hit by water from FLUDD, it splits up into smaller ones. Once all the small mantas are split into their smallest form, they turn purple and rush towards Mario.

It leaves a trail of green and yellow electric sludge goop. If there is even a pixel of it left, Mario can get electrocuted when he touches it. The most effective way to defeat it and the sludge is to spray them with a single, powerful blast. However, it isn't easy. It turns out be one of the hardest bosses in the game. The Manta first divides into two. Each of those Mantas can divide into two more. Each of those divide into four Mantas. Each of those can further divide into four more Mantas making a total of 64 Mantas to defeat. When all of the Mantas have divided fully, they will turn purple and start swarming Mario. Once the last one is vanquished, Hotel Delfino will be restored.

In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, a name on the scoreboards is Phantamanta.

It may be related to Manta.
