Bomb (SSB attack)

Bomb is a special attack used by Link, Young Link and Toon Link in the Super Smash Bros. series. There is also an attack of Samus which is also called Bomb, but it works differently. Both act as the respective characters' down special move.

Bomb is Link's, Toon Link's and Young Link's Down Special Move. They will pull out a Bomb with its fuse lit. They hold the Bomb until it is thrown. Once thrown, the Bomb will either stay at the spot it was thrown to and explode a few moments later, or it will explode on impact. The former is more common in Super Smash Bros. However, the Bomb will explode even if Link, Toon Link or Young Link are holding it. Additionally, the two will be unable to pick up items while holding the Bomb. Young Link and Toon Link can not throw their Bombs as far, and it does not do as much damage, but he is able to run away from the explosion quicker. Toon Link's blast radius, however, is twice as big as Link's blast radius, and the Bomb's are harder to see. When using this bomb however, the player must be careful not to get caught in the blast.

Samus's version of the attack works a bit different. Samus's version of the attack is activated by pressing Down + B, the same as Link, Young Link and Toon Link. However, she will do a very small jump, and curl into a ball. She will then drop a futuristic bomb/mine in the air, which will proceed to drop and then explode. The attack can be used as a get-away when surrounded by opponents. Furthermore, if Samus is caught in the blast of one of her Bombs, she will not take damage, but will perform a small jump in the air that can be used to set up more Bomb drops. The attack is featured on Samus's All-Star Trophy.
