Bandana

The Bandana is an object worn by Bowser Jr. in all of his appearances in the Mario series, as well as Baby Bowser in Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. It is Bowser Jr.'s trademark item and he uses it for several different purposes.
In Super Mario Sunshine, Bowser Jr. wears a blue bandana with a Mario-like mustache sewn on. When he wears this bandana, he is able to disguise himself as Shadow Mario- the evil doppleganger of Mario. Shadow Mario was the main antagonist in the game and was not revealed to be Bowser Jr. until the first episode of Pinna Park, where he reveals his identity and the source of his power- his Magic Paintbrush. When Bowser Jr. wears the bandana, everyone presumes that Shadow Mario is really Mario, even though they have several different features such as Shadow Mario having red eyes and being made out of a semi-transparent blue graffiti-like substance.

[edit] Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Starting in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Bowser Jr. traded in his Shadow Mario bandana for a new bandana with a painting of fangs on it. This is most likely an effort to appear more menacing and intimidating, although he may want to look older as well, seeing as he only has one fang at the time. From this game onwards, besides Mario Kart: Double Dash, Bowser Jr. has worn this very bandana.

In Double Dash, Bowser Jr. swapped his fang bandana to a bandana with a picture of a fist on it. It is unknown why he switched, but after this game, he never again wore this bandana. He may have an entire collection of bandanas, or the creators may have just tested a different style for him.
[edit] Mario Strikers Charged
In Charged, instead of wearing his bandana like he normally does, he wears it as a cape. He wears more metallic gear like a spiked choker and spiked bracelets.
[edit] Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
In Partners in Time, Baby Bowser wears a bandana similar to Bowser Jr.'s bandnna. However, it has no picture and is just a plain old white bandana. This has confused many fans, leading them to confuse Baby Bowser with Bowser Jr. It is possible that this bandana is the same bandana that Bowser Jr. wears and Jr. simply drew on it, seeing as how Jr.'s bandana does seem to appear old and worn at times.
